Ike Hilliard - Tampa

I know that both Mannings, Dunn, Berlin, Jacobs and Tillman were all pursued by LSU, but chose to go elsewhere. A lot of the others were sleepers. Chris Williams was an early sleeper, and Vandy got ahead of us. LSU got in late and the damage was done.

I just draw a blank on Ed Reed and Reggie Wayne. Obviously they were big time recruits, and Miami was hot then. The kids that stayed home and went to smaller schools - clearly sleepers. (And good gets for those small schools.)

It should actually read:

Miami 43
Michigan 40
Ohio St 34
LSU 34
Tenn 33
Fla St 33
UF 32
Texas 31
UGA 30
USC 29
No you are dead wrong.LSU not only beat Ohio State for the National Championship but they won the right to be listed first. Now go resurrect Woody Hayes or something...

That's just silly. Bama is in the mid-to-upper 20s.

usc's lack of players has a lot to do with being so horrible in the late 90s and early 2000's, which is still carrying over in terms of nfl players. LSU wasn't great either, but you guys were still churning out a fair amount of NFL talent during that period. USC didn't at all until around 2002

yes USC and Notre Dame have 11 HOF each. No other school has more than 6 if I remember correctly.

Grambling. Yes, there was a time in the 60's and early 70's when Grambling was one of the top NFL feeders

And I would hate to leave Southern University out - Southern only has one (1) NFL HOF member, a Melvin Cornell Blount. However, he was one bad MOFO.

LSU's are Tittle, Taylor and Van Buren, in case anybody was wondering.

Damn, seems like some big names from LSU would be in the HOF. Bert Jones? I guess Faneca and Mawae have a good shot.

You can never tell with interior offensive linemen. Faneca is almost a sure thing. Mawae is probably on the outside looking in. A solid All-Pro, but it will depend on what's in style when he first becomes eligible.

Bert Jones never won a Superbowl, and doesn't have stats that look gaudy through the haze of time. Look at the number of QBs not named Marino who are in the HOF, without a Superbowl or NFL Championship...

Actually, on opening day 2003 USC had more players in the NFL than LSU did - 27 to 24.

Southern will have 2 soon when Aeneas Williams makes it to the HOF. If he dosen't then the NFL HOF is a fraud.

He has more career Ints, Tackles, Sacks then Deion Sanders and he only played 14 seasons which is less than Sanders. Plus not to prone on anybody getting injured, he was the guy who ended Steve Young's career with that blind side hit when he was with the Cardinals.

Aeneas Williams
and Jerry Rice combine for about the two best skill players to come out of the HBCs since integration.

I wouldn't say Williams is a "lock" for a first ballot, but he's as close as you can get, and not be a lock. I certainly wouldn't bet against his entry on the first ballot.

Only played 1 season for Southern.

Since Ohio St > LSU.

Apparently, Ohio State < pretty much everybody of quality. Though I will have to admit that the #2 Big-10 team vs. the #2 Big 12 team was interesting.
