That's what I expect. They are quite disgruntled currently and will want to make a fan-pleasing splash.
ETA: Still put them at pretty low odds, but better than Peej's three picks.

Well they need more help on the pitching side than offensively unless they lose Xander/Devers.
Next year they have a rotation of
Sale
Crawford
Pivetta
Bello
Whitlock

I think it’s more likely they resign Bogaerts and sign DeGrom or Rodon on a short deal or something if they’re gonna spend like crazy this off-season

Verlander and Kershaw will probably stay put, but deGrom is out there... he's 34 but someone will give him 5-6 years with some options.
Rodon as well and he's 5 years younger.
Plenty of other interesting names like Bassitt, Severino, Syndergaard, Taillon.

Don't think DeGrom leaves and Yankees will sign Severino or Taillon but not both .... Mets obviously going to be in for pretty much all pitching guys.

I think he gets to 57 after tonight. He had a great September in his rookie year. He is otherworldly against young pitchers. I don't think he gets to 75, as he still has to play the Jays and some other teams that are still contending. But he's gonna hit a bunch against teams like the Twins, Pirates, Orioles, etc. Teams are still pitching to him like they do Gallo, even though the rest of the lineup has been awful. Even more amazing, they throw fastballs down the middle.

There were no outs and no runners on when Judge (.302) hit his HR today
Player behind him
Torres - .241
Guzman - .000
Andujar - .229
Kiner-Falefa .263
Florial -.045
Twins pitchers: gUeSs wE sHoUlD pItCh tO jUdGe

They had a 3 run lead, better a solo shot than the possible 2 run home run which we saw from Gleyeber to tie it later

It’s pretty obvious you would pitch around both of them with this lineup
Still unreal run for Judge

Judge should say he isn't returning if Boone and Cashman are still in New York.
He has all the leverage and those two dudes are awful.

Yankees team president called Judge an "all-time" Yankee today.

Reality is the Yankees will offer Judge the years and money he wants. Hopefully they can arrange it much like Julio's deal. Win an MVP during the contract, these years get picked up, play 80% of the games this one gets picked up, etc.....

I don't know, not sure Judge would like that.
From his perspective, he did just bet on himself and prove his worth this season. He just did win the MVP. I don't think he'll want clauses like that in his new deal. I can guarantee you that there will be other teams that won't do that when they offer him.

I would be shocked to see Judge not in Pinstripes next year. IMO, letting Judge walk should be a fireable offense for the entire Yankee FO. From the Yankees POV, by hook or by crook, Judge needs to be in pinstripes. He's gonna play 155-158 games (only sits out once he breaks 61, but isn't close enough to 73, and the Yankees have nothing to gain/lose in terms of playoff positioning). I get why he wants a longer contract than seven years, and he should be paid like a top MLB player. He could get upwards of 40M per year. I just hope he can stay healthy; I do not doubt his desire to play as many games as possible (unlike Trout).

Well you put his starting salary at 35m at 7 years, plays X amount of games add a year + 35 million
Finishes in top 5 MVP add a year + 35 million
He gets the years he wants, Yankees get some certainty. However, like you said he may not go for that but they could even bump the average up to almost 40m.
Just would like to see some creativity from the front office instead of 10 years 375m he is probably going to get

Do you think Judge would go for incentives? Judge just turned down a 7/213; I think he wants at least a guaranteed nine. Maybe a 9/345, with incentives to add a year or two to make 400+?
Posted on 9/7/22 at 6:41 pm to littleavery1948
You are talking 7/245 as a starting point making it where the entire contract could be worth 10 for 350-375.
You make some easier incentives to add more money and things like games played add years... essentially you are hoping it becomes a 8 or 9 year deal worth 290-320m

Judge is only 9 points behind Boggarts, and is threatening the triple crown. He's a shoo-in for 62 unless everyone decides to give him the Bonds treatment. Only the Twins have done it seriously. I expect several homers over the next couple of weeks, and a possible record breaker by middle of next week. He is batting about .500 over his last nine games. He is OPSing almost 1.100
