Since they played the first college football game 150 years ago it's too bad they are not playing to kick off the season.

I can imagine that it would be primetime game full of pageantry and history. Princeton is a Division 1 school and Rutgers is horrible so it would have been a competitive game perhaps.

I'm surprised Fox or CBS or ESPN didn't offer a boatload of money for this to happen.

Princeton and the rest of the Ivy League only play 10 games. In fact, Princeton doesn't even play their first game until September 21st. The Ivy League cares much more about academics than athletics (there is standing agreement between the Ivy League schools to not participate in the FCS Playoffs due to concerns over it's effect on academics), so even if it had been pursued as an opening weekend-type game, Princeton may very well have declined it.

True, but the Ivies allow all other sports to participate in the NCAA playoffs even March Madness which you can argue is more disruptive on school and Hockey which goes from October to April.

Like I said it's a shame it couldn't happen for one season.

There was plenty of time to set it up. Someone should have made it happen.

But we will get to see Jonathan Taylor drag his nuts over the msu D in madtown, so that's good.

I really like the OP’s idea. It would have been a great way to kick off the 150th season.

I like what they’re doing honoring the USS Arizona at the game tonight but this would have been good as well. Great chance to introduce a lot of history to the college football audience.

Pretty sure they’re scheduled to play on November 6, 2069.

Wouldn’t be shocked if they beat them by 3-4 TDs

That game in 1869 was far closer to rugby than it is to anything we consider football

Not surprising considering how many times the B10 has been embarrassed by 1AA teams.
