I disagree with a few of those but for the most part they don't look so bad.

Wel of course They have a high success rate. They pick every single higher seeded team
I wanna see them successfully pick an upset

I agree with all except 5A. WM gets the repeat.

Hey thanks for coming all this way to see us Owls, enjoyed your visit, be careful going home. Sorry about the score and stuff, we tried to get the 4th string kids in there as fast as we could.
but it's funny. we were passing city park on our way to WM and i said "that's where holy cross is playing tonight" by pan am, and when i saw the lights of gormley "one spot higher and we would have played jesuit"

how do you go Against Westgate on the road?
Westgate now 8-0 all-time in the playoffs on the road.

Dont know but props to the Gate

How far are you going back here? They're 8-0 in the last 6 years or so but they have lost on the road before although I think they're undefeated since moving up to 5A. Regardless, Westgate will take care of Higgins on Friday night.

higgins committed too many dumb penalties when we played them... i also don't think they throw the ball well enough to make a legit run

(1)Dutchtown @ (17)Brother Martin
Not too sure what to make of this Dutchtwon team. Their defense seems a bit suspect for a team that has had so much success this year. Covington had a lot of success running the ball on Dutchtown and that could spell trouble for the Griffins. Brother Martin has a huge offensive line and one of the best BIG TBs in the state. I will say Dutchtown holds on, but it should be a tight ball game.
(8)Higgins @ (24)Westgate
Higgins is a high wire act. Lots of big plays, lots of points, lots of turnovers, lots of dumb penalties. Westgate is the opposite. They play very conservative, they play GREAT defense, they rarely turn the ball over, they rarely make mistakes. That being said, Westgate doesn't have very many weapons on offense and if they have any trouble stopping Higgins offense they could be in serious trouble. I Like Westgate at home, but I could also see Higgins blowing them out.
(12)Terrebonne @ (5)Jesuit
Terebonne barely survived Mandeville on Friday, needing a tipped PAT to hold on 28-27. Jesuit is a tough, well coached team that will keep the ball away from Terrebonne's offense. I like Jesuit at home.
(13)Barbe @ (4)West Monroe
Barbe is the type of team that could give WM some problems. they spread the field with 4 and 5 WRs, they will run out of the spread and they are extremely well coached. This is the first real test for West Monroe in 6 weeks, since they faced Ouachita. I expect WM to be a little flat and complacent with Barbe hanging with them until half time. After half time, I expect WM to pull away.
(14)New Iberia @ (3)St. Paul's
New Iberia's passing game and Sr QB Jordy Joseph could give St Paul's some fits. However, St Paul's offense will overmatch the NISH defense and provide St Paul's with a comfortable win.
(11)Zachary @ (27)Acadiana
Zachary has a nice offense and they can match Acadiana in scoring but they have no answer for Acadiana's TB Micah Eugene in the Veer. I expect Acadiana to win this game fairly easily.
(10)St. Aug @ (7)Ouachita
St Aug has a ton of athletes, but their schedule did them no favors with a #10 seed and having to make a long trip to Monroe. Ouachita is a darkhorse for the 5A State Title game. I like Ouachita at home.
(15)Hahnville @ (2)St. Thomas More
Hahnville had an emotional win over West Jeff. STM had an emotionless blow out of Airline. STM is so well rounded and efficient in all three phases that even facing an opponent on a high doesnt faze them. I expect STM to jump on Hahnville early and take the air out of their sails. STM wins at home.

Westgate Opened in '99. I don't know the exact year they moved to 5A, but as far as I remember they never made it to the playoffs until the '05 season.

Here are my picks:
[1] Dutchtown @ [17] Brother Martin
[8] Higgins @ [24] Westgate
[12] Terrebonne @ [5] Jesuit
[13] Barbe @ [4] West Monroe
[14] New Iberia @ [3] St. Paul's
[11] Zachary @ [27] Acadiana
[10] St. Augustine @ [7] Ouachita
[15] Hahnville @ [2] St. Thomas More
The Dutchtown/Brother Martin game was probably the toughest pick for me. I've seen Dutchtown in person and don't think that they are the #1 team in 5A. But they find ways to win. Sometimes that is grossly over-rated. But I'm still going with BM.
I believe that Higgins will blow out Westgate. They just seem to have that explosive offense on a roll right now.
Acadiana is the easiest pick here. I'm thinking they could set the record for the lowest seeded team to reach the Dome and to win the title.
Ouachita/St. Augustine is another tough one. The deciding factor for me was that St. Aug has to travel up to Ouachita.
As much as my heart wants to me pick my alma mater Hahnville to pull the huge upset, my head tells me otherwise. I've seen this team play up to other levels and down to other levels. Reminds me of some of the Saints and LSU teams of the past. I think STM wins, but probably closer than most people are thinking.
