considering they were in the semis with achord last year and lost almost every starter from that team this year? from the way they looked before district, they were lucky to get a 13 seed. achords a hell of a coach. he will win state before its all said and done.

Some one explain to me why so many low seeds get to host high seeds in the second round? Seems like home field should go to the higher seed.

There summer workouts? The fact that they won't miss any NBA playoff games next week?

It's about who traveled and who didn't. Same as football.

Pretty much sucks. You work all year for a high seeding and it does you little good after the first round.

If there weren't upsets, the higher seed would always host. Evangel in 99 was the 2 seed in football and played every game after the 1st round on the road. The reasoning is it's an attempt to even out the money earned for the schools. If you had the best programs hosting all of the games the gap would only widen between the haves and have nots.

Yeah, they graduated everyone last year. I think they lost their top 4 pitchers from last year. This is the first time that I can remember them not winning 20 games. A poster before the game said S.T. was a veteran squad and could make a run. Good call by him.

That would be me. I just talked to one of the coaches said it was a great game!

But talking about the playoff structure, I think the whole thing sucks. Last year we won our district out right and had to travel to Mandeville who was a 4 place wild card team. They beat us in a tight 1 run ball game. Thibodaux this years is in the same boat, district champs traveling to play Sulphur, both where 16-17 seed matchups. I think all 10 district champs should get to host their first game. I hate the whole seeding process.

High school baseball coaches were tired of the Catholic league in New Orleans getting to match up with McDonough 35 and a 3rd place out of the Bayou District to cake walk into the State Tournament. Meanwhile, the Baton Rouge district always had to play the Lafayette/Lake Charles district. The Monroe district always played the Shreveport district. It was all pretty unfair then. In 2004, the top 6 teams in the coaches poll all played each other in the 2nd round. That was the year that the push for the playoff change really got moving.

Everyone is seeded now based off of how they do in pre-district tournaments as well as district games. South Terrebonne played a weak schedule last year, and was seeded low. This year they upgraded their schedule, and although they didn't win their district, their early season games helped prepare them for the state playoffs.
