Many will become obsolete once the 12 team playoff starts, IMO.

And more players will opt-out on teams that do not make the cut.

Other than the playoff bowls, how can these games survive financially? Can TV revenue keep these alive?

Many are already obsolete.

It’s a money grab. The product is mostly bad. They should cut the number of bowls in half.

Teams shouldn’t play meaningless bowl games with 25% or less capacity sitting in the stands. It doesn’t make for good football. It would be ok with me if they set up a NIT like division playoffs for the second tier 12 teams and let them play for the best of the second group. It would still be compelling and good football. The second tier are still good football teams and it gives something for the 24 and below something to play for in season.

I agree that a lot of the games are weak but 99% of the players will not play professionally so let them have one last “meaningless” game. Just don’t watch if you’re not interested.

As they should.

A 6-6 record should not be awarded with a bowl

There were only about ten bowls when I was watching football as a kid. Pare it back down so it gives the bowl games more clout.

I like the bowls. It gives me a chance to watch teams I might never see otherwise. It is usually a nice experience for the players and for most of them, one last game before their real lives set in. Let the boys have one last play.

If you don't like them, just don't watch.

I love college football.
I love watching college football of all levels.
I love watching bowl games, no matter who is playing.
I will do my best to watch as many as possible, hopefully all of them.
I hope none go away.

I like the bowl games.....I just often wonder how they make $, and how the players like playing in front of small crowds...It must be TV revenue that drives the games, cause it sure ain't ticket sales.

Why can’t New Orleans get another bowl that isn’t G5 teams only?

It would be cool to see the New Orleans bowl get conference tie ins with the SEC and Pac12 or something.

Players get to play, we get to watch, schools get paid.
Y’all always complaining like they effect you negatively

tv, corporate sponsorships and ticket sales. each bowl is it's own entity and put on for the benefit of the city they are played in; mostly the hotels and other places of business that will benefit from visitors to their city.

Some need to go. Too many already. Must are boring. Players are beginning to opt-out and the non playoff bowls are turning into something like a preseason scrimmage at the end of the season for teams not in contention

Should have a winning record at the minimum.

Correct. Cut a few, make the requirements 7-5 or better, no .500 teams.

People might care more about them if they have better match ups.
