That’s not how the world works. You do understand the better team does not win every game, or do you think Oklais better than Alabama? The better teams should win but the teams we are talking about are bad teams just teams that have proven over 12 games they are not the best.

You currently have 7 teams listed that you think should be eligible to make this 4 team playoff. So what about the 3 extra teams?
Reading comprehension not a strength of yours? I listed multiple scenarios. 2 that are definitely in and the winner of the SECCG that’s 3, the 4 comes from the scenarios I laid out in the order I listed, there are no “3 extra teams”.

12 team playoff is supposed to make things much more fun and interesting for everyone involved from the player to the fan. People have forgotten football is "fun". All the bs that surrounds football now makes it "not fun" anymore.

Naaah... I like the fact that we get a few extra quality football games this season. I'm all in with it

It’s not “contrarian” it’s been my position forever that 4 teams was the perfect amount.
If your goal is “more football” then why not 16 except that’s not as good as 32 and 32 not as good as 64 and 64 not as good as 128 etc
My goal is for the best team to be crowned champions and the best team is determined by a larger sample size called the season. Since rarely does 1 team truly separate it self a small playoff field 2-4 teams was imo perfect. Upsets is not a bonus, it cheapens things. I suspect most years 1 of the top 4 teams will still win but someone that doesn’t belong will get far unfortunately
Wonder if all you “GET OFF MY LAWN!” guys will own that you enjoyed this playoff when it’s over, because you definitely will.

Probably should've just been 8 instead of 12, but I don't really have a problem with it. 8 would be ideal but I'd rather 16 than 12 if we're doing this to be honest. Everything is already so imbalanced schedule wise, not really a fan of the byes. And the byes only exist to give the conferences a reason to have a championship game.
But it's all better than 4. Makes the regular season better imo.

Sure. But as you said above, the better team does not win every game. So why are you letting single games determine who should get the 3rd and 4th sports?

4 team field
Cotton Bowl
1) Oregon vs 4) Ohio State
Orange Bowl
2) Notre Dame vs 3) Georgia
No debates over Bama/SMU, No Clemson or Boise in my though my guess is all SECTards melting over SMU would be crying about Texas who also has zero wins over ranked teams getting in

The thing is, it's impossible to really determine the best team in football. Variance happens entirely too often. Notre Dame lost to a MAC team. Bama lost to Vandy and Oklahoma. Vanderbilt lost to the worst team in the Sunbelt. Ohio State lost to Michigan. Arizona State lost to Cincinnati. UGA was damn close to losing to Georgia Tech, Tennessee lost to Arkansas.
The only way to truly determine the best team is something like a 7-game series like in Basketball or Baseball. But that is impossible for football. Thus, what we do in football is group the teams who look like they have an argument to be in the group of being the best. And as long as you win the games when they matter the most then you are a champion.

Of course, best is ultimately subjective anyway, with rare exception no one team truly stands out as undoubtedly the “best” and even most of those are seen that way with hindsight.

Even that is not perfect. The 2023 Diamondbacks were not the best team in the NL. But a larger sample size is better that’s why I prefer smaller playoff fields and more emphasis on the regular season. And in CFB I thought 4 teams was perfect.
The NCAA Basketball tournament expanded to 64 in 1985 and the first year Villanova was exactly the type of team I hate to see win. Since then however the winner has been a 1 or 2 seed the majority of the time, a team outside the top 4 seeds only 3-4 times I think including 85 Villanova and I suspect the CFB winner will be a top 4 team most of the time though the brackets/seeding this year are tougher for the 1/2 seeds another humongous flaw in this process

While the home game first round games were fun (no surprise there) they weren’t good games l, the seeding was a joke and it’s stretched out way too long, overall I stand by my statement that the 4 team format was better.
Of course we can’t know what the committee would have done but under my scenarios in the OP
Cotton Bowl: 1 Oregon v 4 Ohio State
Orange Bowl : 2 Notre Dame v 3 UGA
And presumably the same NCG we have anyway.
Going forward they should (but won’t) get rid of the CCG, play the first 2 rounds the first 2 weeks of Dec, the final four NYD and The NCG a week or so after.
