RaceWeather
@RaceWeather

5:50 PM ET @NWBSpeedway

#weather update - 75°F, calm winds

Cup Practice will be at 6:30 pm; Qualifying was cancelled and the field will be set by the metric.

For Sunday, there is a slight risk of severe (high winds and small hail) thunderstorms for the afternoon into the early evening.

With rain chances dropping around sunset tomorrow & @GoodyearRacing wet weather tires, all 450 laps should be completed.

I lost my dad at 13. It took a long time for me to recover

I feel for him and understand how tough it is

One note for Cup. They redid the front bumper and have little to no support. So on restarts if you hit car ahead you likely lose radiator. Might see some carnage. I think there is just a wee bit of support to slightly move a car but you would have ti be careful they don’t brake check you

Could play a big role in race

Its criminal Nascar isn’t racing tonight. Not any sports going on. Sun they compete with WC Final and Indycar. No reason to not have it Sat night knowing the schedule ahead of time.

They cancel qualifying too easily, especially with this dumb format they use. Just go off points. I don’t think where you finish the week before should have such a big impact on where you start at a different track the next week.

Engine alone would be worth mire than that if its a race engine which I doubt. So you likely have frankenstein mechanicals with an old nascar body. Not valuable to a collector since not original and not worth much to a novice since you can wrap a car cheaper

I agree, but still a pretty cool conversation piece. I don’t know who would pay 25k for it. Maybe sell it to a CAT dealership

What’s with all of the Sunday night races now? Is it impossible to race on Saturday nights now? When NASCAR was at its peak they were doing Saturday night races several times a year.

Good deal. We’ve had a plenty of races impacted by weather this summer.

Ryan Blaney tells TNT he will give up the pole position and drop to the rear due to a power steering issue that needed to be changed.

Saw this on the NASCAR Reddit page regarding the Winston Cup sign on the outside of the track.

quote:

Regarding the Winston Cup sign: It falls under a historical signage exemption. They can't repaint it, at all, but because the signage was put up before the tightening of the rules both during the 1998 Master Settlement and 2010 Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, they're allowed to leave it up.

They WERE allowed to apply a thin layer of clearcoat over it for preservation purposes and clear out some plant growth for structural reasons, but the signage cannot be altered in any other way otherwise.
