thinking Shitsy would like a quick court. But while that is probably true about his serve, he has long, loopy strokes and is not a great returner himself. So, even if the court is fast (which I'm not sure is the case), I wouldn't say it's a huge advantage for him.

Well said. I feel like both guys are kinda stuck in between on all surfaces, which is fine when you're one of the Big 3, and NOT fine otherwise.

I'm still not sure what to think of Sinner. He's good on clay but I think that's mostly due to growing up on it, and not because his game is suited for it. The lack of a big serve holds him back on faster surfaces imo. He's really solid all-around but not really great at anything.

I guess if he keeps slowly improving all-around that would be ideal, but is that possible? And when you look at the competition, he's blocked on clay by Alcaraz, Rafa, and Joker for a while. Grass can probably be written off. Can he win AO with an average serve? Not for a few years imo. USO is probably his best shot going forward but Alcaraz is a huge problem there and a lot of bangers are coming up these days.

Wonder if 10 years from now Shapo will be playing the same style, floundering in the 15-30 ranking range while having more talent than everyone around him. At what point do you stop and try to tweak some things, either with the racket, the strings, or your strokes?

Same. Could see the crowd getting into Medvedev's head. Won't be as obnoxious as the French crowds, but there's just something about Medvedev that crowds love to hate.

Plus it's FAA indoors.

Of course head case FAA had to show up today. Even when he finally gets a break. He gives it right back.

Pretty cool of Tennis Channel to show Swiatek bagels instead of a good men's match.

Was looking at Paul -700 last night thinking “Man TP is getting mad respect these days” but didn’t even think for a second to take Albot. Of course Albot rolls him.

Lajovic at +575 is a numbers play, which I normally bet blindly like 95% of the time but I have to pass. Just can’t see how Alcaraz could lose to him. I’ll be pissed if it happens but would be way more pissed if I wasted money on Lajovic.

If you're wondering where Tiafoe is, he's in SLC for NBA celebrity all star game. He's gone mainstream!

Dusan wouldn't have been a bad bet. Something didn't seem right with Carlos after the three setter and some struggles late into the first set tonight. I think his physicality took over.

If your life was on the line for RG, would you bet Djoker, Charlito, or Rafa? I am debating whether to get on the guy who has lost three times in like 18 years at +250 to +300 or so or wait and see what clay court season brings. Oh, and we have to get through some indoors and Miami and Indian Wells first.

I’d just pull the trigger and save myself the torture

Good question. Gonna think on it a bit. Don’t forget Shitpants loves the dirt too.

I saw in the highlights that Fritz had a clutch serve down set point in that tiebreaker.

Pegula +310 to +340-ish seems a little much when she won 2 and 2 about a month ago. ETA, it was one-way traffic for Iga.

This is wild to me. Odds from BetOnline. Can't bet it because it's a loss if he doesn't play, but I can almost guarantee Rafa won't be +350 when it starts.

Did he not beat Joker in 4 last year and demolish Ruud in the final?

Something interesting I found while researching Doha. As soon as Basilashvili shows up in Doha he morphs into Nikolaz Federer apparently.

17-5 overall. 1 title. 1 runner-up to RBA. Tight QF loss to Novak in 3. Other wins over Rublev, Federer, and Fritz. He's playing Liam Broady in round 2 of qualies in a couple hours and he's roughly -105. Broady's 1st opponent in qualies was some dude off the Qatar streets.

He's not coming in with fantastic form, but look at last year (2nd image). Couldn't win a match then gets off the plane in Doha and starts ripping off W's.

Basil 1/12 BP for no reason at all. Not like Broady has any kind of serve.

Glad I didn't see your post until just now. I probably would have loaded up. I get sucked into betting on Nikoloz during the year because I know he has made some good runs -- I also saw him play Rafa pretty well at Flushing Meadows. I didn't realize his good results were almost all in Doha.

Today's slate is pretty good. Sinner/Medvedev, Alcaraz/Norrie, and Fritz/Kecmanovic.
