DK had it at about Holger -140, Daniil +105 a few minutes ago. MGM is essentially a pick em. Starting with a rain delay, which I suppose is fitting for this tournament.

I saw the radar had rain forecasted for about an hour into the match, so naturally they did a pre-match ceremony that lasted 30 mins and then it started raining

What a complete joke of a tourney. How does nobody know how to read a weather radar?

Crack, are you going to Paris? If so, when are you leaving?

Looking doubtful now but I still haven’t cancelled anything. My sister backed out and I can’t find anyone else, and going alone doesn’t seem all that enjoyable. If I go it’ll be around the first week of June. I have individual tickets for 3 different days. You can just put them back up for resale and you only lose the fees.

I was debating going early and maybe hitting up the Geneva final but flights are probably too high for that. Seems like you have to book more than a week in advance for decent prices.

A ticket popped up for the women's final for $1K. Decent seat too, but I'm not all that interested. I'd rather pay a little more to get a potentially epic men's final if that ever comes available.

Holger back up to 10-1 or so at some shops and Sinner about 15-1. I'll probably bite on those.

Yeah there's a narrative out now that Rune won't be able to handle 5-setters. Have to assume that's the only reason for the movement.

The RG draw has been released. Alcaraz and Tsitsipas are in the same quarter, Djokovic is in their half. That's rough. It's a great opportunity for Rune and Sinner. For some reason, I can't link the PDF draw. That one is much easier to read.

I'm too lazy to start the RG thread right now. If you guys don't get around to it by Saturday night, I will do it.

I don’t know if Rune could have had a better draw if he was allowed to make it himself.

NCAA Singles tournament wraps up this week. Asked a tennis guy I follow his dark horse picks and this is the list he sent me.

Quinn, spizziri, rodenas, cassone, fery, rodesch, montes, boulais, trotter

Haven't really had a chance to watch any of them. But good chance they make some noise in the upcoming US Challenger slate. Spizziri is a graduating senior from Texas and is the #1 NCAA Seed. Quinn earned the #2 seed as a RS Freshman this year.

Buddy sent me this text

quote:

Let’s say fed, rafa and novak play each 20 times in their respective peak on all three surfaces. What do you think are the outcomes? Assume a fast hard court

Hard court:

Fed 14-6 over rafa

Fed 12-8 over novak

Novak 13-7 over rafa

Clay

Rafa 17-3 over fed

Rafa 15-5 over novak

Fed 11-9 over novak

Grass

Fed 15-5 over rafa

Novak 13-7 over rafa

Fed 11-9 over novak

He's a Fed fan so I know what he's getting at. That's why he said assume it's a fast hard court. Told him I'd think about it and get back to him. Imo "peak" is a key word here.

Fed hardcourt over Rafa is probably a little inflated and I'd have it at 12-8 Fed. Fed clay over Novak is totally wrong and should probably be 12-8, if not 14-6, in favor of Novak. I pretty much agree with the rest.

Shopping around, I couldn't pass up Khachanov +15000 (Betrivers).

But I would NOT be surprised if Carlitos rolls and makes it look easy.

Andy Murray won a challenger in the U.K.

Maybe I'll feel differently in a few weeks, but I don't have a lot of interest in Wimbledon this year. Most of the tour stinks on grass. Maybe Fritz or Foe can go deep. Nick at 16-1 seems like great value, even though he is an idiot. Who is a better grass court player outside of Djokovic? I do think Djokovic probably feels mentally and physically spent. But, he is so much better than everyone he can probably take the next two weeks off, play some exhibition matches the week before and still easily get to the second week.
