Well shite. Frickin Byron. “Hate” that guy.
Once again this car makes for a terrible finish. Impossible to make ground on the leader.
Therefore cautions are the only thing that makes the races compelling.

Stewart-Haas Racing going with the Talladega Nights sponsors/paint schemes on the 14 and 41 for Talladega this weekend.

Kyle Busch is selling Kyle Busch Motorsports (his truck series team) and all of its assets to Spire Motorsports.

It’s going to be interesting with the truck series and how his departure affects it.

Spire must be rolling in cash. It was reported that they paid $40 million for BJ Mcleods charter .I guess all the gainbridge money is being put to use. Maybe they will send Ty Dillon to trucks now that they own a team.

Does anyone really care about the truck series?

I don’t.
Or the Xfinity.
But I guess I’m not a true racing fan either.
Now if there was a promotion/relegation system…

There should be. Some of these drivers get promoted without earning it.

In other news, Andretti may be on the F1 grid soon. Wonder how that affects the relationship with Spire through Gainbridge.

Is Andretti renting engines from someone, before GM gets things going?

I watch it from time to time, particularly early in the season or if it’s on a Friday night and there’s nothing else to watch or do. It used to be really awesome back in the days of Ron Hornaday, Mike Skinner, Jack Sprague, Ted Musgrave, etc. Now it’s mostly young guys who have bought their ride. There’s a few older guys, but most aren’t regularly competing for wins.

I think the last time I watched a truck race, it was the first time they raced on dirt. Eldora, maybe? Schrader was still racing trucks.

We just got to Talladega and setup the camper. The weather is perfect. Gonna take it easy tonight and sit around the fire. The cup haulers arrive tomorrow afternoon and the trucks race Saturday. I’ve been looking forward to this trip for awhile. My dad brought me for the 1st time in 1993. Great memories with him and now with my wife and kids as well.
