This damn xfinity race at Nashville is like ice racing in Norway. 3 laps racing and 30 laps of caution.

Another caution. The first hour of this race has felt like a slog.

Today’s race will be terrible. Good year bring the wrong tire?

Its great. Makes the drivers have to work harder. Of course this series has the young drivers who have no patience, I expect the Sun race to have less overall wrecks.

Why is this race starting so late?

Nascar experimenting with late Sun races. To see if helps ratings but also to help fans in heat of day by having later start times. Summertime is hot and they think this will help fan experience at certain races.

I guess I get it, but it seems like Saturday night would be better for fans attending the race. I guess Saturday night isn’t preferred by the TV folks, though.

Experimenting for NASCAR is throwing shite against a wall to see what sticks.

Because Sat night races kills all the short track Sat night races. This is one of the few times Nascar got it right and trying to help out short tracks.

It's late afternoon. Think it's supposed to start between 4 and 5 central time.

But does 3-4 Saturday night Cup races in a season really do that much damage to short track racing across the country? I doubt it.

Yes, it does. Summer is their huge fan season as fans can take time off and get out to races. 4 out of 13 weeks is a huge chunk. I complain about Nascar a lot but this is the one rare time I agree with them.

And besides short tracks it helps the fans not bake in sun as much plus drivers in hot cars. Its 94 in Nashville right now. Its a good call and thats my opinion.

Carl Edwards reconnects with Pastor Joe Nelms at Nashville Superspeedway.

Edwards won the race at Nashville in 2011 that Nelms had the epic pre-race invocation. You might remember he thanked his "smoking hot wife" and said "Boogity, boogity, boogity, amen."

Carl Edwards said he is interested in doing a one-off Cup race but feels it isn’t the right thing for him to do for fun. The hits are hard and that is one reason he retired. He said if he did return, he’d give it 100% but said “i am not planning on doing any driving.”

No pre-race at all from NBC. They just came on air and the cars are already running pace laps.

I even checked Peacock to see if they had any pre-race, but nothing.

However, they did actually feature a post-race show on there.
