Let’s do this. Third week should be an absolute monster.

Grand tours getting started. One of the best times of the year.

Chris Horner relayed a story about his 09 season and spoke some about the Giro. I left a comment asking for some details on the Lance / Contador thing. He responded with 'Battles all year long between those two.'

Horner's channel is great.

Horner's stories about the Vuelta and the Landis 100 km solo are great.

Also Remco is on another level right now. Very interested to see how he carries this form through the 3rd week.

He seem to have been on form for quite sometime…
He’s an amazing talent but the third week is sick. Remco probably hopes to rest up till the next TT. Rog probably will look for bonus seconds this week. Can’t wait!
ETA: Thanks Drank.

UAE was pretty well represented in the final standings of Stage 1.

Remco huge lead but I would expect that jersey to move around a bit before week 3.

Watched Chris Horner's breakdown - I had no idea how much turmoil TJV has been dealing with, in the way of personnel changes, guys getting sick and so forth.

Man I miss Bob Role commentating. Get spoiled with the tdf coverage.

I mean have they even showed Remco at all today or anything other than the leaders?

Edit: better now, got some Peloton coverage, haha.

Received some great news today while on anniversary vacation in Italy. Wife (no pics) says there is some bike race this Thursday that will be passing on the street in front of our hotel in Positano. Never even checked the schedule but knew it was the Giro. What a treat.

That’s awesome! Post some pics if you can. Seeing a pro peloton in person is something else.
I’ll update the 2nd post with first 3 stage results and jersey standings tomorrow. Too lazy today

Matthews with a good sprint today. I thought he might get dinged for swerving a little bit once the sprint started, but it wasn't all that bad when I saw the replay again.

Smart of Remco to give away the jersey.

Remco got taken down by a stray dog in the very beginning of the stage. Seems to be okay for now…

During Cavendish's crash at the end I'm pretty sure some pedestrians got some broken arms holding their phones out.

One of the best things about cycling is how close, crazy, and involved the fans get with the action.
One of the worst things about cycling is how close, crazy, and involved the fans get with the action.

I'll never forget Armstrong, 2003, Luz Ardiden, plastic shopping bag grabs his bars and upends him. The call from Paul for the rest of that stage was amazing. Ulrich and the others held up, Lance caught up, then went into some other dimension and won the stage. There's some good fan videos of that stage on YouTube. But...that shopping bag should have never been flicked out there like that. It always amazes me how careless the fans are with riders so close.

That lady at TDF holding a sign to say hello to her grandparents - terrible crash. She should have been arrested.

People with long selfie sticks - arrest them or just remove them. To me it just seem so disrespectful of the riders to take chances like that.

I've been waiting for cycling to come up with some air-filled, kevlar, rectangular barriers, rather than those pedestrian gates. Make them about six feet deep so people can't reach out into the road with phones and selfie sticks and if a rider goes down he's going to get absorbed, not bounce off and back into the oncoming riders.

Finishing top 10 on your back…impressive I guess. Remco dumping twice is no good. The dog thing was unavoidable, but he’s got to be more aware on the last inside the 3k marker. Wondering what he’s going to feel like going forward…
