After seeing this interview with Hamilton you can tell Merc knows they don't have it this year.
Can I?

but yeah, you're right

Man I’d like to see Aston Martin in the top 3.

I agree. Lance is easy to hate and I'm sure Lawrence isn't exactly a pleasure to be around, but that dude is a straight G. Can't help but respect it.

Something else is up with the car or he wasn't given a proper glory run. He took the williams shitbox to P9 last year, so we know he has that in him.

Never ceases to amaze me what Norris is able to get out of an absolute shitbox of a car. As a Ric fan, kinda glad to see McLaren with a shite car this year.
And now that I don’t have a driver I’m rooting for I’m happy to just hopefully see some good racing without any skin in the game.

I hate the Stroll family but I’m very much looking forward to Alonso destroying some dreams of other teams and drivers this year.

That was at Monza while trimmed out for straight line speed wasn't it?
The Williams isn't all that draggy. It just doesn't make downforce. Which isn't as important at Monza.

I almost brought that up. It has serious straight line speed. Even latiffi did okayosh there.
Eta scratch that. Lotz of retirements. Latiffi didn't do well.

I think Latifi just really really sucked.

Well, if history proves anything the first thing he will destroy is his own team, which is like destroying the Strolls.

What interview?
What was said?

It was the post-test roundup. Should be able to find it on youtube, don't remember how far it.
When they used to sandbag Merc always played the 'well, we think there are some things we can still unlock' and yada yada. But they had a hopefulness in how they spoke, spoke quick and gave the company line.
This interview was much more like last year. Vague about what was slowing them down, not hopeful about fixing things, trusting the team and all that talk.
Don't know if I can see Merc challenging until the engine rules reset in 26. And with RBPT/Ford getting their extra engine development time I don't see anyone catching them for a while.

How we feeling after testing? RB gonna run away with it again or is it gonna be close?

Until I see otherwise I am saying RBR runs away with it.
Merc and Ferrari claim to be bringing big upgrades (their actual 2023 cars) for the 1st race, but who knows. RBR were way ahead at the end of last season and 3 months of offseason isn't likely to change that too much.
I do find it interesting that Toto made the comment that the test car this week was a result of what they had in the wind tunnel before Abu Dhabi. That is a much longer lead time to production than what we were seeing pre-cost cap.

I get McLaren didn’t look great but no way they are 10. Maybe 8.
Loving this Aston Martin energy. Papa Stroll is a hard arse with a plan. How long until he cuts his son for not getting it done?
