Max had a flopping part as well.

Norris lost a big chunk of the same part as well.

Broken parts have never been counted in that way.

Allegedly the Mclaren became faster today when Lando picked up damage.

Haas is making a points with their protest due to events earlier this year where bigger teams whined and had them meatballed.

Well yeah. Those wheel spats or whatever they are called do not make the cars faster.

Alonso with a penalty that takes him to P15.

LINK

bullshite that Alonso gets a 10s stop and go which is equal to 30 seconds and Russell only gets 5 seconds for ending Sainz'race.

Alonso should have been DQ'd.

Mirrors are safety equipment afterall. Don't feel bad for them after they skated on the front left wheel nut earlier in the year.

then show the flag during the race.

Race has been over for more than 5 hours.

Agree with that.

Why I said he should have been DQ'd.

FIA again walked the line with doing what they should have and doing no harm. The mirror sitting on the back stretch was inexcusable. But FIA can't actually admit they were wrong by not calling it.

Damage from a spring of about the same size

Watch that endplate off Perez's car when it goes. Would do the same, or worse, if it hit a drivers helmet. Thing flew like a missile.

We have seen endplates fly, not a good thing, but Perez couldn't have seen it and I don't think it lasted as long as KMags previous times this year.

RBR didn't do anything uncommon IMHO with how that went down.

Haas is trying to bring to light that though, especially because of how they were handled earlier this year.

At least one of Mag's meatballs came out in less time than Perez was on track with his dangling bits.

Frankly, that's the only reason I'm not pleased. Reeks of favoritism.

And it basically seems that as long as the part falls off, which is when it is dangerous, before they decide to throw the flag you are all good. So they are sitting there letting it run for several laps with an obvious safety issue essentially seeing if the problem solves itself.

Shitty logic on their part.

Right - Perez' end plate flew off before anyone had a chance to do something.

Alonso's mirror flapped around for a good while and then, after it flew off, the car was deemed "unsafe". Since they didn't retire the car or replace the mirror, they got hit with the penalty.

I was surprised he wasn’t forced to pit by race control. Obvious it was going to come off

It reads like Alpine was hit for not fixing the mirror when he came in.

Think it was AT who had to tape their rear wing for something similar earlier this year.

Question for the experts: There is probably ruling against it, but what prevented Ferrari from repairing Sainz after returning to the pit under his own power? With it being lap #1/2 I would imagine they could have repaired. Looking at the red flag clause, had it been red flagged, repairs to cooling system would have been permitted. I would think there is analytics that would show some % of points of repair under caution + cheap future under yellow pit stops would allow points and possible helping Chuck. I mean the entire season manufacturer's standings for Ferrari came down to this and seems like a white flag was raised on lap #2.

Once he was 1-2 laps down it was out of the question. No chance he makes it back in the points, because of blue flags he couldn't really help. He would have to lap the entire field multiple times when the leaders aren't even lapping most of the field these days.

No to mention whatever damage probably takes a while to uncover.

Legally; they could have worked on the car though. Kimi in Baku (2017?) did this.

On another note, I noticed the tire from Stroll’s car came loose and rolled away after the wreck. Not the first time a loose tire has happened in recent memory, wonder if the tethers are working?

Alpine has now protested the admissibility of the Haas protest, saying it was lodged after the deadline.
