Nice July 7, 2001 tribute by NBC

Will probably always be my most sentimental sporting event I attended in person. I can confirm the crowd roar and camera flashes they mentioned. Never seen something like that at a Nascar race and it will never happen again. It was like a home LSU football game crowd, except twice as big.

Britney Spears was the Grand Marshall too

"25 million viewers watched the race, setting a viewership record for night races"

Mikey Waltrip said that you could hear the crowd above the engines. That is just insane.

That was one of the most popular victories in the history of American sports.

You could feel it in your feet in the stands. I was between start finish line and turn one. When Jr took the lead at races you could hear the crowd from his fans but that night it was all of the fans and like NBC mentioned, no one left until after the celebration. You didn't realize how far away from start finish you were until the celebration happened and I was like damn I need to be closer. I was probably about the end of pit road.

Did Rick Allen just confuse Talladega and Daytona?

We’re green.

Landon Cassill is in the lead according to NBC’s leaderboard. He has a 32 second lead.

Well to his credit he’s probably within a second of the lead…in 28th.

Yeah that would’ve taken out so many people behind him.

Everybody was a Junior/DEI fan that night.

If Chastain wrecked they would’ve crucified him. But say that was Newman or Wallace , it’s he’s fighting to get in playoffs.

Gonna be a lot of single file racing tonight. Hopefully they don’t wait too late to start making moves, but the guys from 5th on back usually don’t start making moves early enough.

Any idea how to watch in the Nola area? Directv stream and nbc app are showing the local weather.

That's a bad troll, almost as bad as the music during that Applebees commercial

Hopefully NOLA gets some nice cleansing from this storm though, they've asked for it and deserve it

I'm pulling for Dillon and Harvick

Bad move by Dillon, the difference between 1st and 2nd wasn't worth it

That just shows you’re not safe no matter where you’re at
