So Monster has requested another extension to make its decision about sponsoring the Cup Series for 2019.
Nascar is reaching the point where it needs to get something done for sponsorship in 2019. Monster appears to have most of the leverage given that Nascar doesn't really have a bunch of other companies fighting to sponsor the Cup Series.

The big discussion that I've heard rumors of is Coke wanting to take over sponsorship and move monster to another form of sponsorship in the series.
