Regular season: Coaches can write in to committee

For NCAAs, you send in your lineup for start of tournament. Cant make changes besides moving players for injury.

This prevents opponent-specific stacking, but not stacking generally. For example, I remember a few years ago UVA was really solid 1-4, but maybe didn't have the very best player. If their coach had a pretty good idea that they would have no trouble making it to the semis, and wanted to have a better chance against a USC or UCLA when they got there, he could put his weakest guy at 1, knowing they were going to lose that spot anyway, to increase chances of winning 2, 3, and 4.

I think in most instances it makes the most sense to play it straight up. For example, in 2011 Tennessee had J.P. Smith playing #1, Rhyne Williams playing #2, and Tennys Sandgren playing #3. I don't think if this was stacking per se or just a nod to seniority, but Williams was the best player on the team at that point, should have bee playing #1, and if he had, a UT team that had a very good chance of winning the whole thing outright wouldn't have lost to to UGA in the quarterfinals.

Not that I'm still bitter about that.

In related news, UT fired Sam Winterbotham and promoted up Chris Woodruff to be head coach. I strongly support this move.

And it could be challenged. UVA can usually do what they want, because their top 4 are all ranked fairly high. However, if you put an unranked guy who hasnt played 1 all year, over a top 25 player who has, you will be challenged and forced to change

Meh, that didnt really make a difference. The difference between 1 and 2 that late in the tourney is indifferent.

Yall blew it in 2010, not 2011

You think Wil Spencer was gonna beat Rhyne Williams? Rhyne lost in the NCAA finals that year to Stevie Johnson and Stevie was the only guy that was going to beat him.

Okay, gotcha. I didn't know that. So a committee decides the challenges?

Roger just smoked Zverev to win Halle. I was hoping they would be late first set right now and the thing is over. Oh well, that's a good sign for Fed fans since I thought he looked poor the majority of this week.

I happened to be up early and catch it...broke Sasha at love to win the first game and got up two breaks right off the bat. He was on today, and I think that certainly bodes well for All England. As one who developed his tennis consciousness in the 70's, his game is such a beautiful bridge to the past for this era. Such a pleasure to watch, especially for me on grass.

Novak took a wild card in Eastbourne this week. He's the only player in the top 15 in the field. This is the first time since 2010 that he plays a grass warm-up event.

Watch ESPN will have coverage of Wimbledon qualifying. It's starting as I speak. I'm guessing they will focus on one court, and maybe give updates from the others.

It looks like their main draw schedule will cover every singles match, which is nice, and a bit of a surprise.

Is that random or did you know they would be practicing there? You're pretty close to them

CSB

My story is that I was walking in the hall outside of the nosebleed section of Wimbledon looking for my gate while eating a sausage sandwich. I thought I had gone too far because the hall was vacant other than me. Then all of a sudden Brad Gilbert and Jason Goodall walked by me talking about something.

That's the whole story. They expectedly completely ignored me.

:csb:

Also I got a close up pic of BM-S from the rear shortly before the incident.
