Just seeing the thread. I don't frequent the OT.

Looks like you guys are arguing over whether or not "guerilla" is a common word used in tennis. I agree with you that it's not, but that's not really the issue imo. If the guy came up with a unique word to describe a playing style, I prefer that to using the same terms over and over.

I know it isnt the issue in the case. But it became the issue in the thread, and a bunch of non-tennis nerds ganged up on me and told me it was.

bullshite

pusher
baseliner
serve and volleyer
counter puncher
tree
hook
tank

Those are tennis terms

not guerrilla effect

Net rusher
Sneak attack

It does get kinda boring hearing the same stuff. This is exactly why I like Robbie Koenig as an announcer.

Gonna throw out a prediction for the hell of it just to see how far off I might be.

Mischa Zverev will disappear for a bit in the clay season, but I predict he wins a 250 or 500 grass tourney, and makes a run to the QF or SF at Wimbledon. He then continues playing well and knocking off top 10 players every now and then, and ends up in the top 10 by Feb 2018.

What does tree mean?

Eta I'll check out the thread but if you're saying guerrilla is not a tennis term I agree never heard that term used before

Dont tell me the kids have stopped using tree. Ask your daughter. It is used when someone is playing out of their arse

" Holy shite, you are such a tree!"

"You are treeing!"

It was used all the time. If it still is your daughter will know. If she doesn't know, then the word has officially died

Time for some Isner after dark. Wonder if SMS will make an appearance.

Guess I was off by an hour.

And he gets broken in the first game.

Grigor Dimitrov just blessed us with the best tennis point of the week.
LINK

Of course, Goffin won the match.

Ryan Harrison and the Donald playing for a spot in the Memphis finals. Kei must have gotten tired of holding that guitar trophy because he went to Buenos Aires or somewhere like that this week.

I guess they paid Kei to come to Buenos Aires. That's the new thing these days. He's actually surprisingly good on clay. The Dog is giving him all he can handle right now though.

I have never heard guerrilla in tennis.

I'd never heard tree either.

Slight tangent: My buddy's kid got a full ride img. He was hitting on a court next to nishikori a few weeks ago, No word on whether he challenged him to a match.

He said guerrilla effect about Venus playing an attacking style of tennis. Stupid choice of words, anyway. He should have said kamikaze.

To pride, we were saying tree in juniors/high school up here 20 years ago. Congrats to Ryno on the title.

I can see how that might put some people off, but it sure made for some incredible photos.
