Not to mention potentially 5 matches in 5 days, and then another Masters tourney literally next week.

I'll save my tennis scheduling rant for another time.

Shout out to Genie Bouchard for walking the walk against Sharapova. I have been critical of Bouchard going down the Kournikova path but today she delivered the goods.

Congrats on winning one meaningful match in the last 2 years. She can go back to being a pretentious underachiever now. Look forward to the selfies after losses.

I didn't like her at first because of everyone fawning over her due to looks when she pretty much had one accomplishment (that Wimbledon run). Now, that she has been humbled a bit, she is more likeable. Her Canadian Genie Army is really douchey, though. That said, hot selfies should always be encouraged. I thought this was interesting.

quote:

"I was inspired because I had a lot of players coming up to me privately, wishing me good luck," said Bouchard.

"They were players I don't normally speak to and I got a lot of texts from people in the tennis world that were just rooting for me. I wanted to do it for myself, but also for all these people."

"Some girls in the locker room were coming up to me and really wishing me good luck which doesn't normally happen," added the world number 60.

"It showed me that most people have my opinion and they were just maybe scared to speak out."

"I think from the WTA it sends the wrong message to young kids: cheat and we'll welcome you back with open arms."

"I don't think that's right and she's not someone I can say I look up to any more."

After two hours and 51 minutes, the players exchanged the briefest of handshakes at the net. "She said 'well played'," said Bouchard. "And I think she's been playing really well in her so-called comeback, if you want to call it that."

Doesn't this sorta prove that Bouchard's issue all this time has been motivation? She might as well say, "Yeah, when I have extra motivation I can beat the top players, but the other 95% of the time I'm just wasting my talent."

Probably a fair assessment.

The Sharapova hate in the WTA is so very very strong.

And Bouchard knocks off Kerber wtf. "World #1" Kerber broken in all 7 service games and retires at 6-3, 5-0.

I didn't see Kei today, but I saw he had pain in his hand or wrist while he was in the process of bageling Schwartzmann yesterday. His whole body is like Delpo's wrist.

Most bitches at least try to get along with the other bitches. From what I've read Sharapova always considered herself to be above the other bitches and didn't have many friends on tour.

I'm hearing Steve Johnson Sr has passed away. He was an influential figure in Southern California tennis. RIP.

Guess that explains why Stevie pulled out of Rome.

Bad week for family members of ATP players.

Like clockwork Nishikori withdraws.

I'm on Cuevas at +220 over Zverev. AZ just won Munich last week, and has to run out of gas at some point. If not today, it will surely be vs. Thiem in the semis.
