Jackets outplayed the Caps all game EXCEPT when they were up a man on the power play. And it's not like the Caps have an elite penalty kill. And what a brutal way to lose, in the final minute. Neither team skates away happy with its performance.

I was watching the Leafs-Preds game on Center Ice, getting increasingly pissed off at the NHL. They have a bad national TV deal because... niche sport. Fine. But they insist on putting the worst f'n games on the national broadcast. So while the casual fan had to suffer through Bruins-Rangers on NBCSN, two of the best and most exciting teams went to a shootout... and the only people who could watch it were locals and extreme hardcore fans with the NHL.tv app.
Maybe you could market the game with Auston Matthews and PK Subban? And its not like we weren't reasonably sure these teams would be good this year. It's like they want to be a marginal sport.

Agree. Pretty ridiculous. Glad i have nhl tv but its hard to attract new fans with games like what bos/nyr turned into.

I’ve complained about the same thing before. My cable won’t even put NBCSN in the basic tier as FS1 and SEC Network. If they would work out a deal with ESPN, which everyone gets on cable, ratings would undoubtedly rise. NBCSN every year shows way too many Blackhawks, Penguins, Bruins, Rangers, Flyers, Red Wings. But any Canadian team, Predators, Stars, Avalanche, Devils, Blue Jackets game is rarely shown. How many times has McDavid been on NBCSN this year? Maybe twice. Why the hell wouldn’t the league want to market him? I think the TV deal is up in 2020 or 2021, so hopefully some other network outbids NBC. I used to love the Saturday/Sunday afternoon games on FOX. They always showed a nice variety of teams. And often showed 4-5 games at the same time.
