They could have just paid the luxury tax. The contract OKC offered him was just $1m less per year than what Harden wanted. He wanted a "max deal contract". OKC offered him like 4 years $55m

OKC had to keep Ibaka. But I would rather Harden over Westbrook.

Harden also makes 2x+ what Perkins makes.

Westbrook actually plays defense. Yall have to realize that at the time Harden was a 6th man. Not even a starter.
