If it takes split playoff system for catholic to finally win a state title, then that is down right silly...lol
I may be wrong but I thought that the private playoff system would be 2 categories? 1 category for 1A-2a and 1 category for 3a-5a?
And isn't that why U High principal was pissed off about?

There are all of 10 teams competing for the Division I title. And because the split is playoffs only, a team could technically go 0-10 and still make the playoffs.
GREAT solution, LHSAA

I know, but still.
And is it safe to say that WM is gonna down public school 5A for the next million years?

this will be the first and last year it will be like this.... if it even makes it there.... I anticipate a lawsuit by one of the 4a schools... to make it go back(ie get them away from curtis and eca).... lawsuit will come just before the playoffs.. shaking everything up...
the only way to save the LHSAA as we know it...
is to let schools play as far up as they want - even if it is sport specific.....but that is what got us here in the first place.... 5a was tired of ECA.. and feared curtis making the jump too.

Why don't the bigger schools just man up and allow Curtis to play in the highest classification?

When every sport had to play up to a certain classification, only Evangel went to 5A and Curtis went to 4A. Both did very well. Curtis would definitely go to 5A if it was sport specific. Basically all girls sports except softball would get tore up in 5A, and even non-football boys sports would have a huge dropoff in 5A. No point. Evangel was horrible outside of football in 5A. JT likes when all the teams can share in excellence. In 5A that just wasn't reasonable.

Curtis never played in 5A, so I don't know why anyone thinks they'd be interested now.

Curtis did ask, a long time ago, to join the Catholic league. It was shot down. If they couldn't get in the CL, they would probably been sequestered to a BR or Bayou parish district.

ask the principals at certain 5a schools... and some former principals....

not quite true.... the catholic league is not nor was it, it's own entity.
They looked into going into 5a for football only and being in the catholic league.. not the Jefferson or Orleans 5a districts... which categorically that was shot down.
and put fear into a few 5a schools and some 4A to create the play in your class deal.... which pushed their problems down to 1a and 2a respectively...

if given the choice for football only, they would jump on it..

That would be ideal.. but there are too many pussies running schools nowadays

this issue is more than ten years old.....
the real comical thing.. was one principal saying .."we would never let them in the catholic league, because their academics aren't the same"....
yet this was a school that had two or three prize players taking ALL of their tests in the library......away from other students.....

But they'll "let" public schools?

the notes from the LHSAA meetings prior to play in your class was decided would be pure gold......
I am going from my personal conversations with people that were there.. and some of the principals...
the irony is not lost......... and again... I still think the whole thing gets shot down.. before playoffs.. but like 2a before them... 3a will still be stuck dealing with the elephants in the room....
a few 3a schools are looking forward to the challenge...

With the exception of evangel I'm pretty certain that the teams WM lost to were public schools the last 10 or so years.
ETA: Calvary Baptist too.
