100,000 people watching a hockey game is a pretty fun concept imo.

I guess... Why don't they just do like 5 of these a year in Philly, NY, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado, Minn etc...

Meaning if the NHL ever decided to take the game down south, which I already noted, will never happen.

Good Lord....

You do realize that the games are held outside, right...

IMO it needs to be somewhere that actually has a high probability of snowing on TV...it just looks so nice in HD

They actually put it places where it's cold but doesn't know regularly. The now comes to the ice and creates small bump that make it difficult to skate effectively.

They would never hold it in a smaller market city like Columbus. Not enough people know about Nash. They would have to bring in either the Pens or the Red Wings as their opponent, IMO, if they were to get the response the NHL wants from the "Classic".

That being said.....Jackets at the 'Shoe? I promise you I would be there.

They already played one in Buffalo, a small market. Pittsburgh's pretty small, as well(though they have the Crosby factor). But Wings at Jackets in the Shoe would sell.

Columbus may have a dedicated local fanbase, but they have zero national appeal. If you aren't an NHL fan, you've probably never even heard of the Columbus Blue Jackets. They've made the playoffs a grand total of 1 time, and were eliminated in the first round. Nash is a decent point-per-game player, but shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Crosby or Ovechkin. Why would the NHL market a player who hasn't lead his team to anything in the 7 years he has played there? It would be a slap in the face to just about every other NHL fanbase if Columbus was awarded a Winter Classic.

That being said, the NHL really has nowhere to go but down after this years' Winter Classic. Nothing will draw attention like Crosby v. Ovechkin and Pens v. Caps. I could see it in Denver, maybe the Avs vs. the Kings.

I agree that Columbus has to do more before they deserve a WC in Columbus.

But it would still be awesome.

Being a Devils fan I believe that it should be Devils vs. Rangers at either the New Meadowlands(Devils the home team) or Yankee Stadium(Rangers home team). Yes having at the horseshoe sounds great but the Blue Jackets Haven't done enough winning to deserve one.

Yeah the Devils are terrible this year. NHL missed their chance to highlight Broduer who will retire after this year. Still Rangers Devils in the meadowlands would be a hit. Yankee tadium has the bowl game in the way but since the Rangers run this area, they would get the nod.

ok first off, Columbus could use the marketing push and Gary Buttman has bitched and whined about helping small market teams for years now...2nd off...Where the hell were you this summer? I went to 3 Braves games...did a great architectural tour of Atlanta and Athens and we were supposed to meet for coffee to discuss socialized medicine versus market driven system...in short used missed out on lunch.

Nash is a superstar on an underachieving team.

Did you not watch the Olympics? Nash is a top 10 player in the NHL, IMO FWIW GFY
