Saw they randomly won a state championship, though never came close since. Did they have a stud pitcher that year?

What classification was this?

5A was Brother Martin beating West Monroe and 4A was Salmen beating John Curtis.

They didn’t win a football state championship in 2007, though.

School still there? I remember riding 4 wheelers from Rutherford Beach towards Holley Beach in the 90s and seeing the stadium lights.

Wow! I went to a 3A school. Never thought Westlake had that many kids. Rita then Laura devastated that area.

Lol you are about an hour south if you think that was Westlake. They’re on the west side of the shite i10 bridge. Always been on the bubble of 2A/3A

Westlake was good in baseball in the 90s but demographic shifts have not been helpful. It’s like a slow motion Broadmoor

Westlake is in a tough spot.

They are located between sulphur, barbe, and sam houston.

Their rec league is shrinking to the point there is barely enough kids to field two teams in a major division. With moss bluff not wanting to play cross district this year those two teams are just playing each other all year in what is basically a best of 9 series.

That said there are still 6 or 7 quality players between those two teams.

That coupled with population shift with industry buying people out and the hurricane moving others it's tough.

Yep! You are right I was thinking South Cameron. Coffee hadn’t kicked in yet! We played Westlake in football in late 90s.
