its easier to replicate a cardboard photograph, than a blockchain digital asset

They don't get the general concept of blockchain/digital property, that's pretty clear

With the way withdrawals work now, the guy who sold this highlight won't have withdrawn the last of his 100k until 2029.

Not cards. And I'm actually the guy who sold the Zion for 100k.

Good point. Whereas typically you'd be investing in a physical product, with Topshot you're also investing in the website and DapperLabs itself. If they go under or lose their license, there goes your digital collectible as well as your "blockchain"

youll be able to take the assets of the site and store them in a cold wallet

naa it was a dumb boomer point
you can store them in a cold wallet and then you and the NBA would share rights to the highlight

Regardless these values seem insane right now. $200 for a video of Svi making a half court shot. A Svi trading card won't ever be worth a penny of that.
For any Ultimate Team gamers out there I've always wondered if a market with actual money for something like this would pop up. 2k already does this where they release a series of Michael Jordan's with only 1000 cards for example. Card #1 is worth a bunch of the market currency but a card from 2k20 could be worth even more in 2030 if people look back on that year and think it was a sick card.

What part of any of this implies you're given rights to the highlight in any shape or form?

Something is worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it.

I can recreate and load to my YouTube account that Zion clip in probably 3-4 minutes.
Can you recreate a trading card in 3-4 minutes right now on the spot?

You're comparing apples to an analysis of tax law in 1941 Mongolia.

Your Mom must be so proud of this recognition, whole dang family will probably throw you a party for your understanding of this Zion video.
