Giro is def in Pog’s legs. He steps off there if he comes in fresh. I think Jonas wins this

Holding off Tadej even by a tire width on that uphill sprint has to be a huge morale boost for Vingegaard.

Jonas has 4 stages to claw back the lead but needs enough to weather the ITT at the end though the climbing in the ITT favors Jonas by a smidge over Tadej IMO so I don't know if Pog can plain to gain there.

Battery seems like it might be starting to die for Pog. He still finished with Vin today and certainly made the race hard today. That’s why i admire Pog. Losing the sprint today was the shocker and maybe a hunger knock could account for it, but this has to send a warning shot to Pog that it’s going to be hard to defend his lead in the second half of this Tour.
ETA: I really believe Pog thought he would have Vin dead and buried at this point. Has to be concerning to UAE.

I’m blown away by Jonas. But I thought Pog went too early. If he went one climb later he could have kept some distance. Maybe he underestimated Jonas.

Reminiscent of stage 6 2023. Visma attempted to bury Pog after taking a minute on him the previous day, Pog hit Jonas while he was isolated and took back 24 seconds. Things remained relatively even till the ITT when Jonas smacked him.

PPG had never lost a 1v1 sprint before that.
That's gotta be demoralizing.

I'm curious of Pogacar bonked, or started to bonk. After Pogacar put some distance between him and the others, up that next climb someone posted that Jonas was 40s faster to the top. Then he catches him and wins the stage. Or, maybe Jonas is just getting stronger.

I need to look at the upcoming stages before the next rest day, but this might get very interesting.

That was an all-time classic stage and Jonas showed some balls bombing downhill like that considering that he had been unsure of himself coming back from the bad crash.

The way Tadej is riding you'd think he is on a weak team instead of a crazy strong one with 4 riders in the top 10.

Thanks for posting. Good interview. Talks about his family. Makes me wonder - how much time are riders away from home and is it cost-prohibitive for teams to have camps where the families can be there with the riders, and perhaps take the families along during racing season?

Roadman podcast just talked to a guy that recently retired (Dowsett) and he said riders are spending an increasing amount of time away from family because of the demands of the sport, need for training in specific locations, and so on.
