They were better talents but they weren't better contracts, and we don't get AD with the Lakers package most likely.

Yeah. The league front office admitted as much after the fact. They stated that the Lakers offer was definitely better and would have made the Hornets better in the short term.

The Clippers offer was trash, but it guaranteed the Hornets the best chance at getting the #1 overall pick.

So it was the better choice for their tank mode

Kaman looks like he's in a hostage situation

Turned out it really wasn't much better. Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Dragic, and Kevin Martin and a 1st(ended up being 16 - Royce White). Lamar was thought to be the centerpiece but being up for trade basically sent him into a tailspin that ended his career so if it went through he would've been the hostage like Kaman in the pic. Scola had one more year as a starter, kinda crosses out with Kaman. It basically boils down to Dragic, who hadn't taken off yet and was a urfa that offseason, Martin and 16 vs Lemonhead, who was thought be a future all-star at the time, a wildcard in Aminu and 10.
