Green Bay was great offense and defense

Saints were 5th in rushing, 3rd in opposing QB rating. Only thing the Packers of this year are better at is stopping the run, but the Saints offense was good enough to typically force teams to abandon the run.

It would be a pretty close game, but I don't see how this years Packers team was better than last years Vikings/Colts.

Colts talent wise was a better team

I disagree with this a lot

they where out coached

The Saints had better coaches, so that makes sense.

No they weren't. Both teams were playing for the Super Bowl. The Katrina crap is played out.

Their run game is barely existent and their run D is average.

GB D this year was much better than the Saints D from last year. They really aren't close

Your point?

They were both on that field playing for the world championship. The Colts wanted to win just as much.

That doesn't mean anything.

They didn't want to win any more than the Colts.

Rushing defense wasn't close. Saints passing defense efficiency last year and GB's this year are practically identical (67 vs 68, respectively) and the Saints forced more turnovers. And, again, the Saints had a SIGNIFICANTLY better rushing game, and Brees had a QB rating 8 points higher.

So? Wisconsinites suffered through the awful tragedies caused by Ed Gein and Jeffrey Dahmer 50 and 20 years ago respectively. This win was for the families of the victims, who by now make up most of the state's population.

Yea okay.

The point is that the Saints playing for New Orleans didn't have anything to do with why they won that game.

They may have dedicated the win to the city afterwards and all that.

Saints were unbelievably tight to start that game, Colts were more balanced emotionally. Once we got moving the better team won.

I'll agree with that...I don't think anyone on the field that night was thinking about Katrina victims and the city during the game. But to say that the team didn't prepare with that in the back of their minds would be misguided, IMO. That's where the Saints had more desire to win than the Colts last year.

I don't think either team wanted to win more necessarily, but the Saints played with more fire. They were the aggressors and took more chances (like the onside kick, which may have won the game for them).

Saints by a touchdown. Their defense was a takeaway machine and the offense was as close to unstoppable as it gets. The 09 Saints were a dangerous football team.
