Yeah it's crazy. Granted it's part time.

A lot of people have put blame on my wife for this mess. But I told her she could work part time. That we'd find ways in the budget to make it work.

I am fully aware that I am the one who fricked up. Hence the post title.

The utility of paying $700 per week, or $7 per mile, is what is ridiculous. Rich people didn't get there by making frivolous financial decisions. And rich people don't stay rich by making frivolous financial decisions.

And yes, a person making $100k per year spending $300 per month for a car they can barely use is indeed ridiculous.

Either way, there's no point in arguing with a guy who has it all figured out, even before he's ever experienced something that so many others before you have. As I said before, your opinion about what it will be like to have kids and what it takes to prepare for having them is useless. So just own that and shut up about it.

Thanks for the financial advice and btw you're the one who has it figured out that no matter how well off one is, $700/week for a car is ridiculous. It doesnt matter if you are worth $100m+ or even $1B nobody should spend over $300/month on a car.

Noticed that, no clue why people resorted to throwing blame on your wife.

OP, don't sweat any of the replies. Many people screw up or come close to screwing up in situations just like you. Do what your gut tells you to do like someone said earlier. Don't worry about the personal attacks, not saying you are, obviously comes with territory of posting here. Hope everything works out.

Im a jackass in what way? Because I posted a pic to shut up some moron who was saying i too would face financial problems one day? Or is it because I said the OP needed to man up and make more responsible choices in the future? What part makes me a jackass? Is it the whole having a nice car thing because Im used to that. I had a homeless woman knock on my window and call me a jackass a few weeks ago for not giving her money at a stoplight.

You keep leaving off why it's ridiculous, big fella. $700 per week for less than 100 miles. Think about that. You can't get from BR to NO Once a week for what you are paying. Keep it up, dude. If you can't understand why to most people what you are describing comes across as ridiculous, then I can't help you, and I feel sorry already for your future wife and your future kids. Have fun sending them to that free public school you were touting earlier, and make sure you show them the pics of the sweet ride you used their college savings money on back when you were "getting ready for kids" and "playing hard" and showing off how dumb you are to the Internet.

Its a weekend car, you ever hear of those? Some people with the means to afford a weekend car, have a car they drive once or twice a week Im not trying to road trip in it.Would it be better if i purchased it and tied up all that cash and had an object that was really difficult to sell is that why you're ranting, because I have payments? Because the payments of a lease are equal to those of a loss on a cash purchase minus the headache of moving the damn thing and minus the tying up of $400k vs making a small payment while the rest is invested. If you would look at it the way I did you would see that monthly payment is brilliant if you want such a car because the cash is in other investments that earn way more than the car would have earned while depreciating, and buying a car like this is just ridiculous when compared to leasing.

I have another car I drive to work monday through friday lol. Like anyone who has a rolls royce gets one because its a practical car in any manner. My god man, you are ridiculous. I love how you assume Im going to be bankrupt in the near future. I own a ton of properties and all are leased out except my gas stations which I could lease out tomorrow and retire if I wanted, my dividend portfolio is strong to quite strong, actually my dividend stock thread from years back is bookmarked and often referenced. I happen to enjoy work for now, I will be fine in the future but thanks for your concerns that my car lease is somehow going to lead me into financial ruin lol. I really dont know why you assume I make like $100-150k a year and am barely scraping by to have my car. You literally know nothing about me nor my assets.

Mistakes, if that's what you made, are most beneficial when we learn from them, and do not repeat them.

No one on here knows if you made a mistake however. Only you can answer this.

A lonely place. But I've found in my life the more responsibility I have, and the more successful I've become, lonely places with significant decisions have become routine.

Enjoy the journey and learning process. It's not all about the money for many. It is for me, and that's not 100% enjoyable 100% of the time either.

Life is what happens when we're busy planning.

No and I never once said I did. I was fortunate enough to have an uncle who left me in charge of his business when he passed. I was in my late 20s and inherited a couple stores. I've since added 2 more, I've added an entire portfolio of rental properties, I've added additional income streams to the stores via buying the atms, adding check cashing, and other items we never had and overall am doing pretty damn well for someone who was just thrust into small business america coming from a job in retail banking. All Im saying is TD has tons of nonsense about who makes what and how it should be spent, like numbnuts yesterday with his question about how people who make $40k a year buy pools.

Look nobody knows what anybody makes or what they inherited or what they stand to inherit so its ridiculous to judge, my good friend owns a chain of 8 or 9 franchised ice cream shops in houston and literally nets over $1M a year, like a high priced litigator. I do decently well myself. There is so much money in small business america and I personally never really knew it either. I know another plumber, yes plumber owns his own place, couple vans, couple guys owns a gorgeous $700k home here in houston doing just as well or better than any engineer youll find. I own 5 gas stations, 3 out right, loans on the other 2, stores + land. Each property is over 60,000 sq ft. I own a huge portfolio of cheap rental homes most at 20%+ cap rates and most that I lease out to my employees where I control the rent payments and deduct from their paychecks. I could go on and on about what I do or what I make but its annoying having guys judge what or how much I spend. My ATM machines alone net over $50,000 a year, thats 5 machines, one in each store, that alone could lease me whatever car I want for life. Dr Edge is flat out ridiculous with his ideas on what is or isnt too much to spend. When he makes what I make, he can decide how to spend it. I fully fund my SEP, I cant have a roth, and overall I have more than enough cash flow to clearly afford a nice car. I just keep messing with him and the others bc the butthurt is strong, its ridiculous on this forum and thats why I never once mentioned having such a car till today bc I wanted to shut him up and its funny how it opened the floodgates and honestly I have no problem trolling the guy.

I like cashews a lot. I can now afford all the cashews I want. Except to know what happens when I eat too many cashews now?

And I have no self discipline, so it's not like I can stop eating cashews.

I'm always interested in hearing success stories, trying to take some points and seeing if I can apply an idea or concept to what I have going on.

im sorry did I bother you old man? Jesus christ are some of you big babies or what. OP good luck with your situation, you did this to yourself, grow a pair of nuts, youll get through this tiny little bit of adversity life threw your way. Im done posting in here, so many butthurt people its incredible I actually enjoy all the complaining, its quite entertaining. Anyways I said my two cents, OP fits in perfectly here with all the other whiners and crybabies in this thread. Its funny how a picture of a nice car rattled so many emotions from so many jealous people....incredible, it truly made my day.
