The topic was adding a derivative layer to the bitcoin protocol. AKA Coloring the Coin.
Well thats nice. Why do you think I asked you this???

Ownership in a company, Securities, gold, property deeds, et cetra.
You invested Bitcoins into these. There for holding deeds, gold, securities, etc. AKA you traded them.
Please explain how you can both spend and keep the same bitcoin.
I think I made it clear I was asking YOU for information. I never once claimed shite. If anyone is to blame it is you and wiki. You two refer to Bitcoins and currency, protocols, value etc without EVER making the distinction of "which layer" to which you refer.
So when a person who has "no" experience with them asks "YOU" why it easier, you cant even garner a clear and cohesive statement to justify your stance on the matter.
Pitiful if you ask me.

I don't believe it's contradictory,

that doesn't make your trajectory any less wrong.
Your pills aren't working, btw.

Because you didn't understand how you could spend and keep bitcoin. The answer to which is you can't.
BUT, after I responded by saying you wouldn't spend Colored Coins the same way you spend regular bitcoins you asserted your gum comment.

I've been awake for over 36 hours, I'd say they are working fine.

Down about 10%. Not quite equivalent to the 2000% working in the opposite direction against you, but you keep telling yourself $725/btc is somewhere near your prediction.

Right because I was trying to understand from "YOU" how you purchase items with a bitcoin..... Apparently this is not your area of expertise and I should direct elsewhere...

I'd say they are working fine.

What information leads you to believe you are right?

Increased adoption, increase in the transaction network, developments on top of the network, things like that.
In the last two years Bitcoin has went from $2 up to $1242 and back to $730 now. That's a pretty big rise and that'll only get bigger.

What developments will push the price up?

Better wallets, Anonymous layers, perhaps we get a certain introductory level of a decentralized exchange. And I'm sure more things will come out, these things just started happening in the last few months. It's fast paced.

I am still unclear as to how anonymous layers, better wallets, and a decentralized exchange means anything.
What is the goal for bitcoin?

Josh,
What I have been asking you for the past few hours is the equivalent of what a broker would do on a daily basis for clients looking to invest in the stock market.
While a more generalized example, you have not sold me on why I would invest in "bitcoins". An error in yours and Wiki's train of thought is that acceptance is based on ease of access yet disregard the many layers of confusion bitcoins offers. Much like the stock market of today.
To this you might say people will learn in time, but how long has the stock market been out for us? Why aren't we all experts? The fact is that some of the "benefits" you claim are false. You honestly think middle men wont be needed? Josh, you have been my middle man tonight for free. I hope this isn't want you meant by reduced cost. I cannot see many people guiding every new customer for free. Further, regulation is backbone of stability. I find it amazing anyone thinks a non-regulated network/currency/protocol could be a stable environment for a global movement.
In any-case, good chats.

quote:I don't know how to double down on something I'm predicting will become worthless. (Unlike you when you started a thread on the Poli Board claiming the Fed Reserve purchased 108% of the U.S. government bonds issued one month and I asked you how was it possible for the Fed to buy more than all of the bonds issued in a month to which you had no answer. Math still not your strong point.)
So you're doubling down on your prediction?
I want to bookmark this one too.
But I am more convinced now than I was last year that btc is a high tech Beanie Baby scam that will collapse into worthlessness. So bookmark THAT, little girl....
Now take a smart pill. You really, really need it.
ETA: btc is down to $706 on btc-e now. Buy up, big shot.

Here is the latest from Mt Gox website...
Oh, shite.....

Statement Regarding BTC Withdrawal Delays
Tokyo - JAPAN - February 07, 2014
Dear MtGox Customers,
During our efforts to resolve the issue being encountered by some bitcoin withdrawals it was determined that the increase in withdrawal traffic is hindering our efforts on a technical level.
As to get a better look at the process the system needs to be in a static state. In order for our team to resolve the withdrawal issue it is necessary to temporarily pause all withdrawal traffic to obtain a clear technical view of the current processes.
We apologize for the extremely short notice, but as of now all bitcoin withdrawals will be paused, and withdrawals in the queue will returned to your MtGox wallet and can be re-intiated once the issue is resolved.
Customers can still use the trading platform as usual.
Our team will be working hard through the weekend and will provide an update on Monday, February 10, 2014 (JST).
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience, and ask for your continued patience and support while we work to resolve this issue.
Best regards,
The MtGox Team

quote:Sounds to me like Bitcoin.org is the central control since they can dictate changes. Who issues the commands that a new version is going to be instituted? You can pretend that it is not central control all you want, but unless all decisions are unanimous the change is by fiat. You say it is open source, but how are decisions regarding the code and policies for the code any different than the decisions of the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee?
Bitcoin.org releases an open source client that they periodically update to fix issues and add features.

If you know how open source technology works you would understand why what you are asserting is absurd. Anyone can go to github and view the source code, copy the source code, edit the source code, and release the source code. If you are interested in the source code: LINK
