My understanding is that they had the question bank and passed it around via EY email addresses. Seems like auditors would be smart enough not to leave an audit trail, but I guess not.

The whole thing is a symptom of a bigger problem and that is the extremely shitty WLB that comes with B4 and PA in general. It doesn't excuse what happened, but that's basically the answer.

I knew a guy that was head of compliance for a small public computer firm. Got busted for insider trading and did federal time. His case is now used an example in ethics training.

Part of the problem right there … the licensees / firms may not care but the regulators do

See this story about mortgage loan originators cheating on their CPE at a pretty enormous scale in California recently:

Oh yea it’s easy for upper management to be like be billable but also fit in your cpe on your breaks. It’s a pretty big issue, you have to manage your stuff but when I’m off I’m off not doing work.

If they did care about ethics cheating and their biggest asset “their people” they would give people time to do this instead of being like do it over your vacations.
