I was looking at buying online gold yesterday. I just want to have as small hedge. I already own GLD but wanted to have physical gold.

Loadouts from the exchanges are at much higher levels than normal. Couple this with supply chain disruptions due to Covid and the price is going to shoot up. I'd definitely get some in your hands but understand the process to liquidate physical metal fast is not without added costs and headaches. I have a mix of metal, some in my possession, some in 3rd party vaults and some in futures. I could liquidate my holdings with a few clicks of the mouse. Last bull run I was not as nimble and lost some gains....

I was looking to acquire some for my possession. I was looking at Kitco and I don't really think I will ever have to liquidate it.

Any of the big online sites are great if you're buying under 100k per transaction. Once you get over 100k you have some other options to lower cost. 100k of silver is about 350 lbs. Thats what I was referring to by headaches, if you get into stacking serious amounts of silver in your possession you're going to need a lot of room and a big truck to move it. You can store millions of dollars of gold coins in a briefcase. I like maple leafs as they are .9999 fine, worldwide recognized and carry a face value which could be a plus if you possibly transport one day. If you get into larger sized products the next person you or your heirs sell to will either XRF scan the product or drill it. There are more fakes out there than you think, even in the coins, but coins are harder to fake than bars. Having a little metal on hand is a good idea, good luck...

www.providentmetals.com
www.apmex.com
www.jmbullion.com

These are all solid companies if you'd like to acquire physical metals. I've ordered from all 3 throughout the years. They will also buy back from you.

Going to start with gold eagles but will look at maple leafs. I was going to grab silver down the road but understand that it’s very bulky.

When the SHTF gold will be worthless after the new wears off. I'm hoarding ammo, the most precious metal blend out there.

misterc, thanks for your comments, bro. I am a gold/silver newb as well and was thinking about getting into metals due to worries about dollar inflation, but I think I am going to hold off until some of the craziness settles down and then accumulate slowly over the long haul.
