They are citing inflation and gas prices.

Also sounds like they overstocked due to supply chain concerns.

Sounds like there are some sweet deals coming at Wally World on big screen tv's etc.

Don’t understand the P/E and forward P/E being relatively rich for a company that is ultimately still just a retailer.

Because the people buying shares don’t care about P/E nor do they use DCFs when they are investing.

Supposedly a massive option trade in the last hour of trading on WMT suggests someone was tipped off about the pre-announcement.

Most be nice to be rich. I was close to breaking even on WMT and now this.
Did pick up more shares of Wire before close today. I guess that's my positive

It's somewhat comforting that the big guys have the same problem as my small business. It doesn't help, but at least it makes me feel a little better.

Down 10 percent after hours.

Huge move for a company like Walmart.

Taking Target & the others down as well.

Yea retail getting clobbered after hours. Luckily there's no volume, so we'll see in the morning, i would hope the whole sector tapers some of those losses.

WMT after hours volume is already 80% or what it was during the day today. The rest of retail sympathy plays might be light though.

Just realized you started this account 7/14 and already have a couple threads on the PT and Money Talk. Any relation to your fellow Big Ten Buckeye alters?

It is almost guaranteed that is for delta hedging a profitable position or an absolute clown guessing on the direction of ER on the false premise that an earnings miss means stock price down.

The release this afternoon was a pre-release update of guidance. Came out of nowhere since earnings are scheduled for 8/16.

How many put buys are on the tape of that size every day? It’s highly improbable that they had inside information and acted on it. That trade might not even be profitable by tomorrow AM.

I’m just repeating what was said by the CNBC crew on Fast Money. They said it raised some serious eyebrows basically.

I’ve been long WMT for years and will keep adding but I am starting to worry that they aren’t getting customers away from Amazon like they could. They also need to get into the streaming game somehow
