V is currently trading at 44x TTM earnings and is trading at 10x book value. PEG is close to 1.7. All very high marks for any stock.

I have been waiting for a pull back in valuation for a significant time and this stock never seems to cooperate. I want this in my portfolio as a core holding. My instinct is to be patient as I have been trying to do for the better part of a year. Should I initiate a position and DCA down if there's a correction?

What is the MB take on the valuation of V? Are there high margins and wide moat enough to justify a position at it's current valuation? And would it be an amateur move to finally take the plunge at these levels?

I struggled with the same thing.. kept waiting for a pull back.. never happened.. I went ahead and bought +4 DITM Leaps as a stock replacement for next year.. If it finally dips I can pick up more but I was a start to my taper in/out strategy that I like to do.

Great company, rich valuation but if you look into the possible growth you might talk yourself into starting a position. Take a look at DFS as well as a possible more reasonably valued company even though it has started to shoot up as well recently.

I took the approach that visa will be around when I retire so I pulled the trigger at 88 a share last year...

I've been watching it since low $70s lol I almost pulled the trigger today because it's rare to see a down market the past few months. At this point I'm just losing gains because of my reluctance.

Does anybody know about short term catalyst besides earnings?

Someone started a thread about this a couple of years go here. I looked into it and went for it. Relatively small position but it has been great for my IRA.

as did I , March 2017 at $88. I like holding positions on segment leaders.
