Vanguard Allocation

48 years old; 15-20 year time horizon; moderate to moderate aggressive risk tolerance; need to allocate $250k in a traditional ira with Vanguard from all cash (just rolled it over last week) into Vanguard funds. Thinking the following:
40% US stock VTSAX
20% US bonds VICSX
15% intl stock VFWAX
15% intl stock VTIAX
10% intl bond VTABX

Looks fine to me. With a 15-20 year time horizon, you might want to consider a larger allocation to bonds, though. But that's up to you.

I think anything between 30-40% bond is reasonable. Just depends on how much you would need to liquidate.

Can you guys expand on why you recommend bonds? With interest rates at historical lows, bond prices are near historical highs.
I understand bonds are less volatile, but that doesn't mean that they can't lose money.
