I use plastic coin holders that I buy from Baton Rouge Gold & Silver Market to put by Morgans in. It helps protect the coin better than the Cardboard holders.

As far as type of coin I prefer, I like toned coins, but they come with a premium while at the same time, I like Morgans with its natural luster (non-cleaned). But in the end, its really just what catches my eye and what I think is a good buy/investment. Its always good to grab higher quality Morgans if you can get them because they'll increase in their value as time goes on. It really is what you like.

Ok so I need y'all's opinion on this Morgan. Me and the accountant (also a fellow coin collector that collects morgans) at work are debating as to whether or not the gash on the left wing (right side of coin) is a VAM. The accountant seems to think it is and is due to a cracked die where as I think it's just a gash from poor handling. Keep in mind, all of the coins I received/posted were from an inheritance who was a coin collector and the individual who received the coins then sold them to my buddy so I'm puzzled as to whether or not it is or is not a VAM. Plus, after briefly looking through the current VAM catalog, I can't find anything that matches or remotely resembles the mark in question which tells me its most likely a gash or I've found a new VAM.

It looks to me like it was mishandled. There are gashes on the rim of the coin between the "T" and "E" in states and between the "O" and "F" in of that are similar to the gash in the eagles left wing.

That's exactly one of the points I brought up which makes me think it is a gash due to improper mishandling. Hell it almost looks like someone put it under a table leg to balance the table. I don't think it's a VAM at all.

Let us know how the prices, inventory, etc. I may try to get out there tomorrow.

Yeah I drove by and saw they were having a car show and thought that it probably was cancelled. I looked on the internet and saw that was indeed cancelled... That blows. Anyone know why it was cancelled?

Matt's corrects, ANACS is a reputable grader but, PCGS & NGC are the ones that people trust the most when it comes time to buy/sell.

ETA: In the end, a coins grade/quality is like a painting. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (literally). One service will say MS-65, another will say MS-63 and another will say MS-64. It's like the old quote George Bernard Shaw said "If all economists were laid end to end, they would not reach a conclusion."
