Horribly. But I can't stop watching even though I'm starting to feel very uncomfortable for the ole chap.

There have been other books (And one economist in particular that wrote them) that have accounted for all of the recessions pre-1913, but the name of them and the economist slips me right now. If I remember it I'll post them. That's just the one book I've known that I could recall off the top of my head.
I have no doubts, and don't worry, I understand it's fricking hard to remember all these economists and books.
quote:
Without understanding praxeology you can't properly evaluate the empirical data.
That's similar, note: similar is not exactly, to saying data means nothing without parameters, which is true.
This us the underlying problem with all of these books that study each recession. The paramenters change over time with each study, and you're basically pulling Alabama national championship logic to validate your claims.
I understand nothing is a vacuum and there are always multiple factors, but the books I've read analyzing each recession are good for historical reference but each do not support the claim that the situation could not at least have been softened by a central bank.
quote:
The Austrian school does a wonderful job of taking on the post-Central Banking recession (starting out with ABCT under Mises and Hayek) as that's what mattered at the time. Their prescriptions hold when there is no central bank.
That's the problem, they don't. How can they? It is impossible and is the biggest apples to oranges comparison you can make.

Me too, I can picture him later in life in front of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Loudly quoting passages from The Citizens Rule Book to confused and uncomfortable Gator fans.

Holy shite how did I miss this post.
You have literally never worked a single day in finance, have you? And when you said the books have slipped your mind that means you need more time to google them, doesn't it. The amount of arrogance you just posted in the quote above is really alarming.

Right, I'm a college student.

No, it means I can't remember them. For some reason I was thinking Thomas DiLorenzo wrote them but he's not the author. Maybe Doug French?

You're assuming an awful lot.
