Okay, I misunderstood you at first, but that makes sense. Thanks.
Of course, invest with amsterdam.

And I understand your point about academicians frowning upon TA. But how many of those who rake in the big bucks from the markets year after year are actually academicians? Is there a single self-made millionaire via stock investing in the LSU finance department?
Just like there are accountants who are in debt, doctors who smoke, lawyers who break the law, and real estate brokers who are rentees, there are academicians who lecture about the stock market who have yet to pull their first ten-bagger from the market.
The big boys on the street, the ones who are in the trenches ripping tremendous returns year after year ... they all use TA nowadays, at least in a supplementary manner.

I am completely with you, the term academic is a double entendre, IMO. I don't have the time/funds to make learning TA worthwhile right now, but I think my likely [eventual] use of it is extremely similar to what you seem to use it for, although my bias will lead me to lean more on fundamentals (or otherwise admit that 6 years of school + a shite ton of studying for certifications + my job are all absolutely useless in a public market
). At any rate, this has been a good and informative discussion.

I agree about this being a good discussion. I welcome a good financial information-swap anytime, although I prefer to have them over a fine glass of scotch
Post your email if you want and I'll point you in the direction of some of my work. I'm an analyst/contributor at a few online locales/financial publications that may strike your interest. And Lord knows there's a bunch I could learn from you.
The funds should be no hindrance to your TA education. You won't need the Level Two subscriptions, chart software subscriptions, etc. until you're well down the road. The time could be a problem, but I manage it on top of law school. I'm sure your boat is as equally full right now (or more, but for your sake I sure hope not), but little by little is really the only way to learn it anyway. If you go for too much too fast you'll get lost in the mix.
