This sucks for Baton Rouge. I've never been impressed with Shaw Groups management though. Good deal for shareholders.

Shaw is one of the largest employers in Baton Rouge.

CB&I has a huge office in Houston. BR and Louisiana are screwed.

Gary Graphia's announcement today that he is resigning from Shaw effecitve May 2013 tells you that Shaw is about to undergo a massive consolidation and change in Baton Rouge. He was the catalyst for Shaw becoming the growth engine that it was. I expect we shall see 2-3k less employees in the Baton Rouge area over the next 36 months with most being laid off and the rest being relocated to other states.

SPN had the same exact thing happen to them recently. Sounds pretty similar. As for now, my friends that work for corporate in NOLA are being told they have nothing to worry about till their lease in the CBD runs our and/or CFO eventually retires, then acct and finance will move to Houston.

I'd expect the same thing with Shaw. It will be gradual but eventually alot of the pieces will end up leaving. We all knew this would eventually come but you hate to see it happen anyway.

That's pretty much what is happening with Canes as well.

Canes HQ was, what? 45 people? And the reason they moved had nothing to do with a buyout.

My point was that "home grown" Canes is slowly moving corporate jobs to Texas, too.

Because they couldn't get senior level talent to move from the fast-food/restaurant management capital of e US

I have some Big Macs to sell you if you think they relocated because of their PR accounced campaign that Dallas is the restauarant management capital of the world. The real reason they left is because Louisiana's business taxes make the state a difficult environment to operate in versus Texas.

There is a difference between Louisiana being less profitable from a tax perspective and it being a difficult place to do business. Those of us that love Louisiana understand we will make less money by staying here. Either way, Canes was doing well based out of Louisiana and only moved because they were greedy.

Gary announced his retirement in march and left May of this year. I am looking at the company email.

Anyone else think the line "Netherlands based Chicago Bridge and Iron" is a little weird? I guess it's like that 60 Minutes segments where the only thing in The Hague is a PO Box and a secretary.

I'll buy them all up. Since my knowledge about the transaction isn't from a PR campaign.
