Reversing Bad Credit Remarks

Is it possible to have bad credit remarks removed from your credit history? My brother has owned a house for about 3 years now and up until earlier this year had great credit history and no issues on paying his mortgage. He then ran into some financial difficulties and couldnt make his house not for about 4 months. But he's back working, has paid off his overdue balances, and is back making his monthly payments on time now.
But those 4 months really hurt his credit history and rating. Is it possible to talk to the bank about reversing the bad remarks from those 4 months, given he's up to date now and his previous good history before his unfortunate financial issues? Or is that conversation with the bank not even worth having?

In this economy, file a dispute with the bureaus. They are so back logged right now they only have 30 days to respond. If they don't, they have to remove it from his file.
Try it, all they can do is say no.

I work for a credit restoration company and do disputes day in and day out and I have never once seen a mortgage late removed. You could call the bank and ask for a courtesy removal (or in this case a few) and see if they would be willing to remove the late dates now that he is making scheduled payments again. If you do, make sure to point out the past positive payment history and the fact the account was in good standing for quite some time.
Also, it can't hurt to send a dispute to the credit bureaus reporting on the account asking them to verify the late dates. Keep in mind the 30 day timeframe begins the day the bureau receives your dispute letter and not the day you date/type it.
Pray the bureau's cant get hold of the bank and are unable to verify the dates!!

As the other two responses said, getting a bad record cleaned up (if the information in it is correct) is very difficult.
I suggest your brother just be ready to explain the circumstances he went through to anywhere he applies for credit. And he should emphasize in his explanation that he caught up the past due amounts and paid them off in full.
Time will take care of the rest as long as he keeps his repayment history clean.
