Maybe. The fed waited too long to raise last time. It will be worse if they wait too long to cut this time.
If we see a massive spike month to month, that's one thing. But frankly, inflation ran so hot for so long, a few months of -0.1% non-core shouldn't rattle anyone too badly.

And -0.1% isnt exactly massive deflation either

Fair point- I just know how slowly these things move. It’s like a tug boat. By the time you sense a change, sometimes momentum is going to be a problem.

I could use some deflation in my life. I want a new boat and side by side.

You will certainly come out ahead of people who financed 10k, and then have the cost of that debt skyrocket.
Imagine any entity with, say, 36T of debt. Would really suck if that all of a sudden became more expensive instead of less expensive.

A negative month over month is not deflation. It’s lower inflation. Deflation would be a negative CPI print.

Huh?
It was a negative print.

CPI YoY is 2.4%. CPI ex-Food/Energy is 2.8%. It would need to be negative for us to be in a deflationary environment or you have to see at least several MoM negative prints.
