I spend so little time at home now. The little free time I have, paired with my newly found disposable income means much more activity in my down time to maintain ROL.

Just heard an analyst announce himself as John Doe "MBA."
And at a conference for other finance professionals, no less, where 90% of the room have MBAs.

One thing I've been really impressed about with my new job is the lack of DBags that go around throwing out titles and certifications.
Everyone is pretty down to earth.

You mean you don't introduce yourself as THFMBAL2CFA?

Maybe everyone else is just too intimidated to certification drop after I tell them my handle on TD.com

Wake up at 8:30 AM.
Drive 3 minutes to work.
Work till 2 PM. Eat lunch with bullpen or run down and grab subway (on me) and eat at desk.
Work till 8:30ish, order food, eat, leave at 9-930.
Workout/exercise for 45 minutes.
Read till midnight/12:30.
Rinse/repeat.

It depends. I like research, so that's really interesting to me, but there is also more accounting type of work in my job than I expected, and that can be really tedious and frustrating.

Let me know when you guys really start losing your joie de vivre, mine is through the roof these days other than the Shady's fallout.
Keep grinding, that's what youth and upside are for.

I'm still grinding away at the desk, today was actually a pretty good day despite the long hours.
It comes and goes. The biggest downside is that I can't hit the gym like I used to, so now I'm on a super health food diet and it sucks.

I'm about to take off Thurs/Fri/Tues to move the rest of my shite. 80% of that is just vacation. The work is cool, the people are intelligent and friendly, the pay is great, and I get to experience living in a different city for awhile. I've got no complaints. I really have no issue with working till 830 or 9 every day.

Well, for the 1st time in decades I ate canned sardines as part of my higher protein lower sugary carbs "diet", frickin' awful, one and done on that, but have lost 11 lbs. Smoked salmon I can do, sardines....nnnooooo. Killing it on the dumbbells.

Sounds like a good deal. At mid-20's I would have killed for the opps you guys have, just think of the rewards down the road. I can't hardly make myself read a 10Q/K anymore, just LT burnout and much more life enjoyment in the life/work balance. CFA was never even discussed when I was in undergrad/MBA program, old balls baby.
It's good to live in different areas, makes you appreciate things from a broader perspective.

Oh for sure. The place I'm living at is all young professionals. The leasing agent said she puts people relocating with big firms there all of the time. Business opportunities?
In all seriousness I expect large gains in professional and self improvement. I have no excuse to not exercise when there's a fully operating and likely virtually empty gym roughly 100 feet below my door.

How much time is needed for CFA level on prep?
I have a chance to take it this December, with scholarship, but I just think it might be to much on my plate with 15 credit hours and only 3 months. I don't want anything but 4.0 gpa this time around.
The CFA exam would also be in the same time frame as my finals.

You can study for it now, which will be difficult, or you can study for it later, which will be harder (barring unemployment). The longer you wait, the harder it will be. Indisputable axiom of life, I promise.

Im a junior, and I could probably use the time, FIN2000 is the only FIN class I have taken so far. I don't work as hard as the rest of you, but I have put alot of presure on myself the last couple of semesters. I just wish I could sit down with the book to see how much I know. Next semester I will take a few 3000 level FIN class, and probably only take 12 hours. That would go well with taking the exam in June. As far as what is on the practice test I have basic understanding of what is going on.

Have you taken any accounting classes? Econ? Stats? If you've only taken one finance class you're definitely better off waiting, your learning curve will likely be very steep. If you can pass L1 before you graduate, you'll be way ahead of the curve.

Yes to all of the above, I think Ill put it off.

Are you sure about that?
Unless they changed the rules, you aren't close enough to graduation.

Probably. I would try to take it in June if I were you. You are already way behind on time if you take the December exam.
