Question about dividend stock/play

While at work I noticed before the market closed today that the board for FRBC approved a dividend of $7.16/share executed on 5/30 and payable on or about 6/1.
Seems like a shoe in to load up on the stock for the dividend giving it's current price and trading history, then dump the stock if it's a good move. I've just started trading again the past couple weeks, but could anyone here tell me why I shouldn't buy even more shares due to the absurd dividend they will be paying out? Bought 86 shares today btw.

I was looking at this same deal today. How often do stocks drop by the amount of the dividend on the ex date?

It would have to drop to its 52 week low from its closing price in order for it to not make a profit on the dividends.

The dividend will be payable on June 1, 2017, to stockholders of record on May 30, 2017, with an ex-dividend date of May 25, 2017.
Pardon an investing rookie/idiot but what does it mean by the May 25th ex-dividend date? Does that mean that you'd need to have the stock on or before 5/25 in order to be a shareholder of record on 5/30?

Yes. Ex date is what matters. If you buy on the 30th you will not get the dividend.

Alright, thanks for clarifying. I figured I was s.o.l. to get in on this.

Sorry Idk why I typed the 25 but it's the 30.

What's the symbol for this?

I believe it is FBRC. The dividend is pending a merger.
