Any chance that this conjured up "debt crisis" is just a back door way for the Fed to raise interest rates?
Fed can claim we had no choice, we had to do it.

I don't think you understand how the interest rate system works.

Was watching Fox and they had a story that talked about consequences of not having the debt ceiling rasied. Stated that one of the consequences could be the fed raising rates. Went on to talk about how that would effect on car loans and mortgages. Guess Fox New doesn't understand interest rates then?

I would love for them to walk me through how they connected those two dots.

If they made that connection... then yes.

Negative. As you naturally suspect, Fox knows all. Don't let the eggheads in this thread tell you otherwise.

They will raise the debt ceiling, so it doesn't really matter.

It wasn't a P4WN FAIL. It was on the news that was being discussed. A-hole. Get back to working your sorry job.

Ok people straight answers here.

I am about 40 days from the completion of the house i am building.

My fiancee is on my arse about locking in with our mortgage company. I dont want to lock in a 60 day lock @ 4.7 % when the daily rate rate now is around 4.5 % .

There again this whole debt ceiling deal is next week and we are concerned they are going to sky rocket the interest rates...

Smart money folks -- do i need to freak out and lock asap this far out?

Or do i wait and do it the week before closing like a normal person would do??

TIA

FWIW, interest rates have fallen this week.

you need to shop around. I know two lenders offering 4.15 and 4.25 on 30 day locks as of yesterday.

Now that everyone is laughing at you because you've outed yourself as someone who thinks Fox News is the ultimate authority on economic events.....

You definitely thought you had just slammed him.

I don't want to be a doctor.

I graduated school with 2 degrees at 24, with no debt and have a higher earning potential than the average doctor.
