What do you guys carry for insurance on your personal vehicle when you have a work vehicle that you drive 85-90% of the time?

I have to have personal vehicle to pull boat and trailers.

My daily is covered by my company and I drive it 90% of the time. I have State Farm for my truck and wife’s suv.

Wouldn’t the boat insurance cover the boat while pulling it?

I would carry the same as my 100% daily driver and accurately list the miles/driven year. Your miles/year might just be 1000 in your scenario.

I would not reduce coverage, because if you actually get into an accident you could be screwed. Cheapest scenario, I would carry the min coverage your insurance requires to get an umbrella policy. That is normally more than state minimum.

My wife's ride is a company car, but she is on our policy to drive our other two family cars.

This is what I do. My truck is reserved for weekends and towing/hauling duty. It’s insured the same as any daily driver would be but with a 5,000 mile a year mileage. It does suck paying a high insurance premium to see it sit in the garage most of its life.

Carry the same liability limits as you would if it were your daily driver. But ask the agent if there's a low mileage discount. Many carriers offer one.

If the company offers Snapshot (Progressive) or a similar program where you plug a device into your vehicle and it tracks your driving habits, sign up for it. The low mileage will help with the discount.

Boat insurance would only cover the physical damage to the boat and trailer in that case.

Liability coverage would be coming from the tow vehicle's insurance.
