I am 23, have been working for a year and know I'm not supposed to look at this.. taking 10% out of check, should i start taking out less??

Depends on your company match. My company matches dollar for dollar up to 6% so that's what I'm doing for now.

No, just start taking more time to see whee your money is going. What has it been invested in to go down 23% this year?

My company will put in 5% no matter what, I'm contributing 8% currently...

My personal rate of return as of about 10 minutes ago was -28.46%

As a 23 year old, you're fine. a 20% loss for you isn't a lot of money in real terms. Very different than a 55 year old who lost 20% of a a large portfolio he built up over many years.

It looks like you bought a lot of funds that invest similarly. That isn't diversification.

But yeah, early in the game it probably doesn't matter much anyhow, they key is to stash away as much as possible. If you have a company match, even better.

Dude relax. If you've just starting saving this is actually a good thing, as it means the money you'll be putting in over the next few years will be at a lower price.
