Other resources for early stock/investment tips?

Lurker on this board who recently started an account. Wanted to start a thread about existing resources to find investment tips.

A few years ago I realized I needed a resource to fill in the gaps that my increasingly worthless broker/financial planner simply does not provide. Basically I wanted more tips of high beta, volatile, high growth potential plays. Individual stocks primarily, but I’ve been playing more with cryptos lately.

Anyway, I’m curious on everyone’s thoughts on how this board stacks up in terms of providing early tips on exciting new buying opportunities. Not needing a formal provider of DD, I can do that on my own. Just places that bring my attention to opportunities before they become largely known. This could be penny stocks I haven’t heard of, and even just reminders that perhaps a mid-cap company you deal with everyday is experiencing conditions ripe for a good run.

So fnally my question: is this that place? Do we think we have enough baws across a sufficiently wide cross-section of industries to make us all rich(er)? Or do y’all have any other resources or forums you can suggest that we check out for such tips? I will add that I don’t really have the time or the patience to deal with the nonsense of something like WSB, but it occurs to me that we are kind of at a crossroads in investment styles where there’s some real money to be made with things like cryptos, NFT’s and god only knows what else these millennials will get excited about, so I’m just curious if there’s anywhere else I should be looking.

Sorry for the ramble, cheers all.

Reddit used to be good. XPEV was my biggest gainer that I got from Reddit, thankfully I sold before the bubble popped.

Reddit, ever since the GME shite, has been diluted with people who have no interest in long term investing. I haven't checked in a while, but as long as that shite is a thing, I don't see it changing for a while.

This board has been the best I've seen. Just takes a while to figure out who knows their shite. Wish I'd have paid more attention over the years. At least gets you some ideas of plays that may have never been on your radar. I think most of the investors on here like to see other people do well.

This board is the best finance board you'll find on the internet. Great community, strikes the right balance between "tips of the day" and long term plays as well. For the most part, everyone looking out for each other and just blanket pumping is not condoned. TD is one of the last bastions of relatively free speech on the internet.

This board has people who like to give advice, and rightfully so… and folks like me who appreciate advice because I have no business giving it.
I’m more conservative bc of my retirement date but I’ve seen people hit rockets over and over on tips and advice from this board. Good luck!!

I think there are a few users here who really know their stuff but most are probably amateur investors like me.

There are a lot of people who don't really understand how central banks work for example (blaming individual politicians for inflation when the reality is much more complicated). It's not going to be relevant to most investors but for those who're running macro models, it could be important.

As you acquire more knowledge, you realize that pretty much everyone (even those who should know better) have no clue what they're doing.

Thanks all, good stuff. These comments are in alignment with the observations I’ve made to date. Made some nice money myself on some tips I’ve gotten and found the people to be genuinely helpful. Will prolly stick around here cause like I was saying the larger forums just seem to aggravate me. Cheers!

That’s me. I make it a point to never bring a stock to this board because I know I’m a rookie and my opinion hasn’t earned value yet. So, I mostly keep my mouth shut and just listen. I do enjoy being involved in the discussions though, like the SLI on-going thread but I make my novice level known and don’t pretend to be something I’m not.

I honestly respect the board enough to not muck it up.

That's the opposite of what you should be doing.

You bring stocks to people, argue your case, and that's how you improve.

Everyone is a novice at the end of the day. Very few people here will work in finance or have a background in finance. You realize that after a while, nobody really has a clue what they're saying (some things I've seen on this board where users have misunderstood certain things).

That’s a good way to look at. Thanks coach.
