re: Options help please - I've been a nervous wreck from this lol
No problem. I’m glad the information was useful. One other thing about trading options, it’s typically better to close out positions at least a couple of hours before expiration, unless you’re so far out of the money that there’s no risk that you could be challenged - or you’re OK with getting stock put to you or called away. Market makers often do some weird (I call it shady) things as you go into expiration. I see it every week, and typically between 3-4PM ET even on non-expiration days.

Good luck with it.

JAG how’s it been man. I was trimming positions until lately. Just opened a couple of new swing positions on amd pypl and vrm. Had a lot of life happening lately and getting back into it. Got on TSLA Decembers a week ago and got lucky with S&P news. Hope all is well

Etrade and others offer "paper trading" which isn't real money, but uses the real market to simulate real trades and investments.

Reading tutorials, watching tutorials and experimenting and playing in paper trading is a good way to get a sense of options. Lots of good advice out there.

I've worked my way in by playing with paper trades first with buying calls, then selling calls giving each a good workout in paper. That's as far as I've gotten since the pandemic began.

I still paper trade every day when I see some tip or analysis that looks interesting to help sort out analysts with sound insights from those with empty words.

Hanging in there. Took a punch to the face the week before the election and sat on the sidelines election week. But the past couple of weeks have been great for anyone long the EV stocks or playing the bullish side with options. I’m skewed to the bullish side, but also have some short strangles and iron condors. GOOG has been my money maker lately - hope it continues.

I like the idea of swing trading right now. And I know what you mean about life happening. Be well and hang tight.

you are confusing selling (or closing out the position) call options with *writing* call options.

Do not write uncovered call options. But if you have a decent position in a company you enjoy owning, writing covered calls is not a terrible strategy to make a percent here and there...but usually you have to at least prove a little competence with most brokerages.
