Good play, maybe not the best timing though. I have been stressing the importance of hedging ETH with ETC.
I think ETH is going to have a hard time for a while as most of the ICOs are liquidating their ETH and less people buy ETH to partake in ICOs. Meanwhile, ETC will soon be used for ICOs for the first time after its Emerald wallet is released. ETC will likely get an ICO bump like ETH did but at a smaller scale.

Important new ETH news: Ethereum will be added to the BTCC DAX exchange soon.
"BTCC plans to list new cryptocurrencies on DAX in coming weeks. The next currency to be listed on DAX will be ethereum (ETH), which will be introduced the week of July 3rd, 2017."

That it is now less risky to buy ETH at its current price around $290-299 as there is finally some positive news. It may receive a small bump anticipating the increased volume.
ETA: I want to be clear, I am not advising people to buy ETH. I am merely making an observation that there is finally some good news in a sea of bad news for Ethereum. A large drop to $220-250 is possible for ETH over the next 48 hours.

Alot of ETH's value was inflated by ICOs and people's misunderstanding of that produced hype. I still like ETH but I wont buy anymore of it until it drops down to around 220-250. Ive stated here several times that if you are making investments in ETH you should hedge it with ETC. The reason for this is because ETC has a great dev team with a lot of developments coming out over the second half of this year. ETC will soon have a top notch wallet that will expand its usability to include ICOs and other functions. ETC should take market share from ETH as it is much cheaper and not over pumped with hype. ETC will see continuing gains as the Emerald wallet is released this week and other developments are announced and released.

Yes you can go short on coinbase I'd do it on gdax but it's definitely possible on coinbase. You guys scare me
